Twelve days of Christmas

Our own internal challenge? Starts Christmas Day and ends January 5th. Twelve challenges. Score 12 for doing the challenge on the first day. Score 11 for doing the challenge on the second day, 10 for the third etc. If you miss a day but do the challenge another day, (i.e. do two challenges in a day)...

Re: Travel tips needed

Thanks for all the above. Our second Covid lockdown has meant that our trip seems impossible at the moment. If we do go, then a trip around the US may be a more practical proposition. Perhaps starting in Texas, then west coast and then through the mid west and the north before the East Coast. (our s...

Pretty sure that is Hotel California.

Various versions of course other than the Eagles.

Good version from Passenger.

Once heard Green Day sing this in a gig as well.

Re: Book club

The Book of Dust needs to decide if it's a young adults book or a darker and more sinister turn on the first three. For me. finding some resonance with a much younger main character was difficult as I'm either lending him more wisdom and experience than he had or demonstrated or assuming that he was...

Re: Book club

Or we could read exclusively, books about wine, whilst drinking wine? On the wine front, my wife and I had - pre lockdown #2 - some very nice Chilian red called RAVANAL. I'd recommend it. Otherwise we are into our Portuguese varieties at the moment. On the book front I'm about to launch into Paradis...

Now watching La Revolution on Netflix.

Re: Book club

I managed to miss Game of Thrones on the TV and have not read the books. I have a real personal issue with what I would call "fantasy" novels being both a hard core science fiction fan since I could read and holding Lord of the Rings as the supreme example of the fantasy genre. (It's been ...

Re: Name that tune

Very envious of the "retiring". Been trying to do that and coming under increasing pressure to do that for a while now. Apocalypse now is correct. Try Hooked on a feeling by Blue Suede (love the fact that Wiki has this as Blue Swede) Go all the way by the Raspberries Spirit in the sky by G...

Re: Name that tune

I'm out of this one I think.

Very late 70's for me was when I moved in heavy/death/dark metal.

Anything in the mainstream at that time would have passed me by.

Good luck all.

In the 70's I thought it was all glam rock, heavy metal and disco (i.e. any tune you like so ling as it has a disco beat).

The first one is - courtesy of my daughter - Billie Ellish - and she thinks is either called No Time to Die or is featured in that film.

Re: We are top of the league - a lifetime event

I have no illusions about staying where we are but equally I'm cheered by being: 1. Only 24 points (8 wins) from safety, and 3. Four wins ahead of the team presently in the last relegation place I'm also quite relaxed about stories in the media that our manager will be on his way to a "big"...
