Re: Indoor Rowers League 20/21

I put in a 309m today which is a bit disappointing, but it was after a 3x20min Zoom Ergos session, so I'm hoping for some improvement later in the month and maybe getting past my PB of 313 (not 213 - thanks Plummy). [-o< I decided to have another crack at this today having managed 309m after a Zoom...

Re: HR zones - New to forum

One more question: Do we have to wait for every post to be approved before it's released? It said I would be advised when it was approved but that never happened. Only if you are new to the forum (e.g. your first two posts) your posts have to be approved (to avoid spam). I just checked, and the lim...

Re: ZoomErg sessions - GB

I had a really interesting first experience of Zoom Ergos today. It was a UT2 session involving 3x20min r2:00. The leader was Dave Gillard who rowed for Cambridge 3 times in the Boat Race. He used the first interval to talk about some technique points, and then used the second and third intervals to...

Re: January CTC - Mercian New Year pyramid

Well, I did say that I would follow my usual pattern of pretending to plan and then just rowing by feel! This was about as far off plan as it could get! I also realised that my 500K SB is way slower than I suspect I can go at the moment, given it is almost identical pace to my 1k #-o. So I will use ...

Re: HR zones - New to forum

Thanks for the welcome and advice Jon. The calculator link is exactly the one which led to my confusion. The calculator bases the zones on %ages of reserve HR, then immediately below that is a table based on the same %ages - but of MHR (which one assumes means maximum HR). This is my very point - i...

Hello John, Welcome to the forum and to Free Spirits. There are a lot of people on here who have some very deep experience of this kind of training. I’m not sure which I do you have seen on the site - there is a lot on here! But I always rely on our HR zone calculator which you can find here - https...

Re: Virtual Team Challenge

I can't row - too much core involved - but I have started some gentle bike erg. Metrees are being counted for this challenge, I just have to do twice as many :) Where there is a will to move there is a way. That’s great Lesley! I am not even slightly surprised you are already back up and going =D>

Re: January CTC - Mercian New Year pyramid

Well done on the improvement, I take this to mean that a faster 500 is possible, but +2or3S/500 is more realistic than +2. Jon, Pete believed that 10x1min rest 1min was about 1k pace. This is slightly shorter and "only" 9 intervals, but the longer intervals in the middle would seem to com...

Re: January CTC - Mercian New Year pyramid

I haven't been brave enough to have a go at this yet, but my thinking was: 100m @ 500m-2 200m @ 500m 300 @ 500m+1 400 @ 500m+2 500 @ 500m+4 and then track the same pace back down but pushing harder if I am still alive. But to be honest, there is rarely any resemblance between my plan and my executio...

I've found the issue Plummy - My latest update on the Virtual Team Challenge was generated from the dev website and so had links within in which were also to the dev website. #-o.

Thanks for letting me know. I can't manage the site unless people highlight any problems, so thanks.

Iain, Plummy is having the same issue at the moment. What were you trying to do when it asked you to sign in to the dev site? I am struggling to recreate this, so it would be useful to know exactly what you were trying top access when you were prompted for login details. There must be a lurking link...

What’s the Xmas hat icon for? (I should probably know this)
It is something that Thomas built in at some point. You get a hat if you row on 24/25/26th Christmas. As far as I remember, any distance counts.

I'm trying to get a bit more balance to my exercise which has been pretty much 100% rowing for the last few months. So I am doing some cycling and weights, and therefore have gone for The Haul rather than the Long Haul.
