Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Well done again Kellie, that shows how much you are improving! I hour PB for me this morning - 14184m, this is an increase of 26 metres over the distance I set a couple of weeks ago. This marginal improvement may mean that my recent run of improvement is nearing its end, but I was a bit off colour ...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Improved my full marathon time set two weeks ago by just over five minutes! 3 hrs 13 minutes 44.9 sec doing the Brain Tumour Research Charity row raising over £900, thank you to all those who contributed. There was a lot left over so the next time I'm daft enough to think that doing a FM is a good i...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Posted on Facebook so apologies for the repeat if you are seeing it here. As it's the first row of the season it would be a bit cheeky to call it an SB but my 60 mins tonight was 103m further than I managed on any 60 minute attempt last season - 14905m at 26SPM. Average heartrate was 166 and as my ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Got up early to pop in a pre work 6000m in order to get into position 21 on the metre board before breakfast. By tea time I was back down into position 22', just completed another 16000 to recover the 21st spot. I've showered and intend to enjoy a medium rare fillet with mushrooms washed down with a...

Re: April CTC: 3 Peaks Challenge

Not pretty, not fast and really not very pleasant! This kind of challenge does not align with the marathon training I'm deep into, next month's looks just as painful, good news is that it's done for this month, I will not be trying to better my 13:01.9 even though I should have done the last two int...

Position 21 is calling my name, I just hope Chris Clegg and James Flax can't hear it before the end of the season! 8) I'm constantly having to watch my back as Sarah Warren is the most difficult person to get away from, every time I take a day off she's back on my heels. #-o Smile broadly........

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Me - Well last night I achieved another PB and it was for the 2k. Previous PB was 7:07.6, new one is now 7:06.7. I was all at 6s and 7s afterwards trying to remember if I had equalled or beaten my PB and didn't confirm it until this morning. My pace was all over the place - I really struggle with t...

Re: Meter board banter

This meter board "thing" sure is strange. After every row I rush to download my meters and look to see where I am. I've had great satisfaction looking at the numbers increase and see my name climb. I believe I started at 411. Is this normal :?: However, having started my season mid-March ...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

Well done Phil, great achievement! On a rather more mundane note I have just taken 6.2 seconds off my 5k SB. Down to 20:08.8. I'm not particularly thrilled by this as I feel like I should be going sub 20 by now - I seem to be rowing better over 30 minutes plus at the moment Any improvement should b...

Final 9.x k done - what an inspiration FS have been in the last 7 weeks! Slow row while enjoying "Clairy Browne and the Bangin' Rackettes"; Genesis: "The musical box" and "The Knife" and then some Zappa on "Freak Out". Go, FS! The knife was a favourite of min...

Re: 2014 - targets, aims, ambitions and hopes

Reflecting on the fact that this season's target have been achieved, I dropped from obese to overweight and so perhaps next season's targets should be a little more challenging.

A target of 5% improvement on all PBs with a stretch target of a 7.5% improvement is where I'm currently thinking.

Congrats Phil although to be honest, not what I wanted to hear when I am doing my first FM in the next two weeks. My 2nd HM planned in next week as part of the build up...hope all goes well for your sponsored row! I really don't want to worry you but at 36k in I was convinced there was a problem wi...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

I'm doing a sponsored marathon on the 3rd of May (www.justgiving.com/philiplamb) and after last week's abortive attempt at the distance due to rear end pain I planned an attempt this weekend. I was due to start at nine Saturday morning only to find a visiting daughter on the erg when I got up, never...

I see some health club has usurped our third place :( Sunday is London Marathon day, How may of us will attempt to row the distance instead of a masochistic run? Didn't the same health club post the highest score last year by putting a huge total in at the end? They've tended to post a lot of their...
