Re: May CTC - 5000m unrestricted
I didn't know what this month's CTC was when I got on the erg this morning. So I set it for 6k with 500m splits in the hope that I would hit the CTC somewhere along the way. I'm still a long way off where I want to be, but I passed 5k in 20.24.6 and got a (very temporary) seat in FS I. I hope to at ...

Me too. I did 6k in 24.23.5 and set SBs for 500m, 1k, 2k and 5k along the way.
I think I'll quit now while I'm ahead.

Re: A New Start
Fell off the wagon big time during my week off and the following week. Now back to close to my highest weight in 3 years. I did a (very slow) HM for penance and will try to do better next week. Paul V Date_________Mass (KG)_______Weekly change_______Total change 20/08/07______110.1 26/08/07__...

Re: Donations required; in terms of your time and effort?
Haven't been posting much lately and was really shocked to see this thread.
I'm delighted (and relieved) to hear that you're not planning on leaving us, J-R. It would be a much sadder place without you.

Re: Summary of the month: March 2008
Very poor month for me. Only 69,300m - my lowest total since joining Free Spirits. Even lower than the month I had pneumonia!
Mojo conspicuously absent, but I moved into a new age category for BIRC (55 to 59) so maybe this will give me something to aim for over the next few months.

Re: Not sure what I'm doing at the moment.
Paul, all the best with the return, we are both the same sort of age, maybe a bit of friendly rivalry ? That sounds like a good idea. We can probably spur each other on. Give me a chance to get back to some kind of form first and then we can arrange a weekly challenge - maybe starting with 500m and...

April CTC - 2500 m
I just posted the first time on this month's CTC. Pretty slow at 9:46.6, but it was early in the morning and I'm currently sitting all alone in FS I.

Re: Not sure what I'm doing at the moment.
Thanks everyone for the advice and encouragement. I think what I need to do right now is just concentrate on getting on the erg on a regular basis, no matter how bad I feel (within reason). Maybe in a week or two, I will look at some medium term objective. That may be as simple as getting under 20 m...

Re: Not sure what I'm doing at the moment.
Haven't been posting (or rowing) much lately, but this thread caught my eye. I've been feeling very sluggish for a while and have really struggled to keep going. I'm only managing two or three sessions a week, generally fairly short distances, always much slower than I used to be capable of and I'm ...

Yes, Wales were deserving winners.
And England probably deserved to finish second.
Ireland were dreadful and O'Sullivan must go!!!!

As expected, my weight went back up slightly this week. I managed to stay off the chocolate and biscuits, but had a crisps related lapse and not much exercise during the week. Re: A New Start
I managed to stay off junk food for the week, but was quite worried stepping on the scales this morning because I was just back from Manchester (bringing my son to the Theatre of Dreams to see his team get beaten) and had had a few pints and far too much food while I was away. I was amazed to find t...

Re: Weekly Weigh In
Thanks for the encouragement John, Grobi and J-R Today was the first test of my new resolve. Two people arrived back at work from holidays, bringing loads of nice chocolate with them. I managed to resist, but it was a struggle. I also had to visit my GP today and he told me to be careful not to over...

Re: A New Start
It's been a while since I posted here and I'm afraid things have gone from bad to worse. I lost a lot of momentum when I got sick in November and have not managed to get back into any kind of regular routine since then. I need to build up gradually and mix up my training a bit, so that I'm doing mor...

Shocking injury to Eduardo. I think the only way this type of tackle will ever be eradicated is if the player causing the injury is banned until the injured player is fit again. This makes the punsihment fit the crime and means that if you end another player's career, you end your own at the same ti...

Thanks Stan. That's what I feared. It's a shame because I really wanted to pay my respects by participating in the challenge. I was out most of the day yesterday, rushed back to do the 1000m challenge before the gym closed, went down town to log on in the internet cafe about 8 minutes before it clos...
