Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Congratulations Lesley. That's quick, 4th fastest in the world this season and would have been 27th last season. Very impressive

Wolfie, That sounds unbelievably awful, even by CTC standards! I can't decide if it's inspired or evil. Probably both

Re: Takers for ridiculous ultra-challenge?
As my distance record is a HM there's no way I could attempt a tandem. But I would consider joining a team. I can't see a record for the small or large team 50+ 1,000,000 so that looks like an opportunity. As we have a lot of good 40+ rowers I also looked at those records as well. I can't see a larg...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Yes, that's my problem ☹️ Weight lifting or body weight exercises - I have some equipment at home like dumbbells, exercise ball, some elastic bands etc. I am using them like 3 x week trying to do some strength training but with no plan - I would like to try something more structure 💪 🚣 Any ideas or...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020
I think Morten was just warming up, still plenty of time for him to gain his normal place in boat I. Sorry about Boat II, I did feel slightly guilty when I noticed because boat III isn't yet floated! Fingers crossed.

Re: APRIL 2020 - CTC - 3x1721/4r
The idea was to pace at around 1:48.3 to test the pace needed to turn my meta-nonathlon 5k green. It went according to plan in 18:36.3 @1:48.1 but to keep that up over 5k would be hard! Fitness felt ok but lacked power to comfortably (not sure that is the right word) hold 1:48. And yes, more ladies ...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020
Thanks Tako. My plan is to do the CTC today at around the pace I need for the 5k meta-nonathlon, so 1:48.3. Hopefully it will get me used to the rating and power needed. So today should be relatively straightforward. If it is a struggle then there is no way I will attempt the 5k.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020
Having not rowed for 10 days due to a tummy bug I've left myself 4 days for the IRL, CTC and 2 meta-nonathlon distances (5k and 10k) that I'd love to turn green. IRL up first and my aim was sub 1:35 so I have to be pleased with 1:34.0. Adjusted that's 1:27.4 which matches Dave.

Re: Concept2 Spring VIII Series
Morten, That's great! With your entry plus Tako, Wolfie and Peter I suspect Free Spirits will be a lot faster once Stan selects the final boat. Our current boat is 122 of 142. Plus we will have at least 2 boats

Re: Concept2 Spring VIII Series
Hi Claudius, The rules are hard to follow and it depends on which part you read. But yes it looks like you can join in later rounds. It is certainly worth a try. I think your "relaxed" rows would be quite fast enough to make the boat faster! Copied from the rules... "On the Team Capta...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
A nice 6k today in 21:49.5 @1:49.1 for the Spring Vlll challenge. A few seconds outside my PB. At the end I felt like I could have gone faster, but during I felt that if I went faster I'd risk HDing. So probably the right balance.

Re: Concept2 Spring VIII Series
Great result Fred and I liked the Nonathlon idea. So... a SB in 21:49.5 @ 1:49.1. Plus 3 nonathlon points but more importantly it'll turn my meta-nonathlon score green .

Re: Concept2 Spring VIII Series
It has started but we can still participate, as long as Stan is happy to input. He has until the deadlines below (April 14th is the first one). I've copied the relevant paragraphs. The point is we row the distance then Stan chooses the fastest 8. So let's do this, let's get rowing. First up 6,000m b...

Re: APRIL 2020 - CTC - 3x1721/4r
PS: Any thoughts on pacing for this one? I was thinking maybe 5k-1? Maybe a little faster? The total is 5163m and there are 2 x 4 minutes of rest. I checked a couple of random early scores and they were 1.3 and 1.5 pace slower than last month. So taking that and my 5k time as a guide would mean 5k-...
