Re: APRIL CTC - single 1500m

Sorry about the FnD, Guy. It happens to all of us. Doing a 500 in the same session sounds like the sort of foolery I would try. I also see a strong effort from Morten was just posted. Well done! 3 rowers under 5:05 in boat I and six boats afloat! Claudius: challenge accepted. Cheers, Colin PS I don'...

Took another 2.4 seconds off the 1K PB today! Tako, how's the 30' coming?

Cheers,
Colin

OK Tako, the gauntlet has been thrown. 5:05.4 @ 1:41.8. Looking forward to seeing what you, Claudius, Guy, Max, etc throw at this in the next week.

Cheers,
Colin

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Go for it, Tako! If you hit 8100 I might need to take another crack at it! I checked off the 6K today. I was aiming for 22:00 or under and this pace is a littler slower than my 2K, 5K, and 30' would predict, but it's a new PB all the same. I am not particularly well rested, so this leaves me some ro...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I hauled in 31 meters on my 30' PB for 8089. I started my sprint too soon and faded ... twice, in the last 2.5 minutes, so I think 8100 is within reach with a better finish. This distance was the most painful so far. It's just a brutal combination of length and pace. Cheers, Colin https://i.imgur.co...

Thanks, Tako! Don't be so modest, you are faster than I am in the short pieces by quite a bit!

Thanks Fred and Dave! It has been satisfying to best times I achieved as a 24 year old to say the least.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I'm getting closer to knocking off all my old PBs by the end of April! I took 7.7 seconds off my 10k for a 37:20.4.

Colin

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

After 2 consecutive days of HDing around 1000 meters I got a good 2K time, knocking .7 seconds off my best and 7 seconds off my season's best. Now I have all those middle distance ones left to go from 6K to 10K. The 500m seems out of reach right now. Cheers, Colin https://i.imgur.com/9DNt5OMl.png

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Thanks Max. I might like 500m even less, but at least it's over faster. Both stink. Went back to long distance today and knocked a 60' PB off the list too!

Colin

Sprints are not my strength, but I had a crack at the 1k yesterday and today and scratched out a PB by .1 seconds. Wooh hoo!

Colin

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I managed to set a new PB in the half marathon today at 1:21:52.8, a 25 second improvement. Along the way I managed season's best splits in the 10K and 60 minutes lengths. Trying to set all new PB times by the end of the month. I know that's crazy but it keeps me going. Cheers, Colin https://i.imgur...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Well done, Max. I am sure you finished with a sprint, as is your style! After a day off I managed to pull out a PB in the 5K at 18:11.2, an improvement of 2.3 seconds (and over 40 seconds better than my previous best this year). I felt like HDing 1.5K in, and oddly I find that this is often when I m...

Re: 2019 Mud Season Madness - a review

I had a good month. I completed 28 days of 10k plus, and topped 800,000 meters for the month. I'm about to have a lot less free time so need to find a way to maintain fitness with fewer meters.

I aimed for Tako's excellent time (and used his rest schedule) and again came up just short: 13:34.1 compared to his 13:33.5!
Intervals were:
1:42.5
1:41
1:42.4
1:42.1
1:42.7
1:42.2
1:41.8
1:38

Max, interesting that you thrive in the broad middle there and tail off (if it can be termed that) at both margins. My scores get progressively better with distance. Good luck on your quest!
