Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Not really sure what that means Andrew, but it sounds like hard work. With all the talk of races lately I decided to go off plan and do little test of where I am at the moment. So I set the monitor for 2k and set off at my current target place to see honow far I could get. I didn't make it all the w...

Re: October Feast 5k.

I'll enter my time from one of my rate capped 5k intervals a few days ago. Not sure if I will get a chance to set a 5k unrestricted time for this but may set a 5k split on a longer row if I do one that is not rate capped.

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Another nice low rate Jason Very nice SB 10k Andrew, I will also be revisiting my longer distance PBs before the end of year with my renewed training. Today is a rest day for me due to work and family, also took yesterday off as felt exteemly fatigued and thought I better listen to my body for a cha...

Nice plugging away Andrew  Good base building Jason  Eric I'm sure you will be leading the way on this thread again soon ^O^ Another Pete plan session for me today after a couple of days off. Not done this session since before Christmas last year so not too sure how to pace. Did the ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks Jason.

Plan was for a 10k at 24spm but not feeling great today. So I decided to do a 5k at 20spm with the option of another after a couple of minutes rest. Got 1.5k into the second before putting the handle down. Disappointed but better than nothing.

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks Jon, currently number 2 on the ranking. Above Graham Benton somehow (think he must have been doing it one handed in his sleep). Yes I used the 250 to recover a bit more for the last interval, I think I would have struggled maintaining the pace without it. It lost me less than 2 sec on the 250...

Re: October CTC - Fitness Matters' Sting in the Tail

First go at this months CTC for me today with a nice big target on my back for Jon and Eric. I used the Kirby method of taking the 250 a bit slower to be able to push harder for final interval. I think I got the pacing about right with very little in the tank for a sprint on the last interval. 1000m...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Any one welcome here Stan. All free spirits are real rowers, I still look at others who are a lot quicker than me and think how is that possible. Also not in the same league as plummy with his not right in the head ultra distance madness.

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks Jon. It will be an enforced rest day for me today due childcare and work. I will try to set a time early this month so that you and Eric have me as a target. It will be interesting to see how my longer pieces develop over the coming months now that I have started my new traing programme that ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Just a quick apology to Erik and Jon for using them as my target on the last day of the CTC and bumling them both down a seat. Realy wasn't expecting much as I haven't been getting the training in that I wanted to since June, including several breaks of more than a week between sessions. Really didn...

Re: September CTC - Joan Van Blom Cancer Awareness Row

First go at this was a last ditch effort with just a couple of hours left of the month. Happy with the result after my lack of training over the summer. Chalk another one down to brute force and ignorance with a big helping of stubbornness. Also ended up doing 2 extra meters after setting the monito...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Good to see so many people coming back to free spirits and also to this thread. Eric I will be joining in before the end of this month, however I doubt I will be troubling you or Jon. My return to rowing has stalled over the summer after my illness and other problems in june. Since then I have strug...

Re: Free Spirits CTC Leaderboard

Looks like I will be struggling to stay in boat 1 and at the top of the leader board with sjoerd posting a time. My lack of training over he last few months will really be shown up over this months distance and I won't be able to rely on natural power do scrape through.

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Nice to hear from you Mat, keep us updated on your triathlon training and comps. More good sessions from Eric and Jon as usual. Most impressive was the fact than Jon managed to loose weight while in the US, most people seem to come back at least half a stone heavier. I'm still struggling with motiva...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Went for a bike ride yesterday as the gym was closed and too hot to row in the conservatory at home. Think that is the first time I have been out on a bike for training (riding before has always been with family or to the shops/pub). Covered about 20k in around 1hr 10 min with just under 300m of cli...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

More good sessions from everyone apart from me. I missed a few more sessions where I really could have done something. Yesterday I did my favourite session of 3x3k with 3 rest to try and get some of my mojo back. Well I finished, but it was tougher than normal. Managed to keep the average below 1:50...
