Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Some great sessions there Ian, especially this morning's back-breaking 20" intervals :~c [-( ^O^ A tiring weekend including lots of travelling meant no rowing since the middle of last week, and I really didn't feel like this mornings 7 x 4' session  But... rather than bale out I dialled ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

You’re really packing some hours of training in Claudius ^O^ ^O^

For me, a hard ZRL race on the Wattbike yesterday and then a deceptively tough session this morning. 3x (4/2/4) with the 4’s at R20 and the 2’s at high rate. The second 4’ was hard work in each of the intervals!

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Definitely not the easiest of sessions there Ian - nicely executed though 8)

Bit of a grind for me this morning with a 2 x 20' R22, accompanied by the podcast of Saturday's "Fighting Talk" to get me through :D

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

The dreaded 12x2’ this morning. I wasn’t looking forward to it, and didn’t get distracted by previous performances, but just started at a reasonable pace and did just enough each time to maintain a slight negative split IMG_8286.jpeg HRM had a bit of a wobble towards the end of the penultimate inter...

Good god, 54 SPM. I don't know how you do it (much less Claudius at ... 62.. but I blame the slides. Isn't that what the cool kids say???). Seriously, my hat's off to you guys. I think I rowed 37 once and was like that's as fast as this little engine is gonna go. Cheers Rob - to be honest with such...

There’s not been many CTCs that one could contemplate as a short-sharp warm up before a strength session, but here we go :D

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Really nice 22k Claudius, to start off what sounds like a really busy day's exercise ^O^ ^O^ Ian - that set of 8' looked tough, especially with the challenge of increased while maintaining the same lower rate =D> Well executed 40' session this morning too.. and kudos for maintaining that negative sp...

It's been a while... :fswink: Good to see you've not bee slacking in my absence ^O^ ^O^ and great to see Claudius on his way back too after what I hope was a great summer of running and riding  It's been a bit of an odd summer for me in terms of training... it feels as if I've kept training...

Re: September CTC: The Rowing Maul

Well that was truly unpleasant! Took the Erg outside on the deck before it got too hot, and wasn’t really sure how this would go! First 1k actually felt fairly good and 4’ was a fairly luxurious recovery. The 750m was okay but left me with a few doubts about climbing this mountain on the way back up...

Re: August CTC: 100 - 500 - 100 pyramid r1'

Well done all on a challenge which proves to be every bit as horrible as we’d expected =D> =D> It’s been a bit of a bumpy couple of months for me training-wise with very little regularity, but I realised last night that the month was running out fast so I gave this a shot this morning. To be fair, t...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Good session Ian, and a nice way to break up a 3x15’ row which can sometimes feel rather loooong!! (must have been that half hour warm up  ) Do you know that given the fast pace of this CTC, I actually did do a warm up… managed a whole 2’ before deciding “that’s enough… let’s get on with it!” :...

That high drag must have added to the hurt Spider  Thought I’d get the CTC out of the way this morning as I’ll be away this week and not sure how I’ll feel best weekend. Pleasantly surprised - details over there David - will we see you on the CTC this month? Looks like it’ll be right up you...

Re: July CTC: 9 x 333 r1'

Well done all. Interesting one this… if you get the pace right then it doesn’t really hurt until the last couple. If maybe I went too easy early on? :-k

Either way, I’m away much of this week so figured I’d best get my go in now…

Morning all  Nice low rate session Spider - good to shake the demons of the HD 8) I know what you mean about the timing of that first stroke in low rate short reps Ian - it can make a big difference. Still, excellent progress, and another nice set of 12’s :D David - sounds like the plan is ...

Ouch Ian - tough Tabata session well executed with some clear improvement in speed from previous incarnation of that one =D> Wow spider - with a possible sinus infection leaving you with only one working eye and ear, you decide “I’ll just go for a nice steady hour at R18” ^O^ ^O^ Nice work over on t...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Still +70m over last time and you got to the end, I call that a win! I'd echo that =D> 4th interval was still much faster than your last time out at this session, and you managed to get through the last which was not much slower than last time. If you'd have baled after the first 3 then perhaps you...

Well done all for some great training over the last few weeks =D> =D> I'm back on the erg after a couple of weeks of enforced rest - I'm fairly confident that I did manage to crack a rib during my tumble from the bike, and found rowing extremely uncomfortable.
