First PB of 2008 - didn't think I had one in me! 1st rep of the 4 x 1000m Pete Plan. Set off fast for the first 100 with the intention of backing off to pull around a 1:49 - 1:50 split. Got to 250m in and thought "sack it" go for it. (it was only after that I remembered why I had bailed on...

Thought I'd done a full set of Pete Plan short intervals but found that I'd bailed on th 4 x 1k the other week after hacking up a lung after the first one. Tried again tonight with interesting results.... 8 mins warmup - 1923m 1000 - 3:26.2 (1:43.1) - A PB!!!! (wasn't going for this initially - hurt...

2nd attempt today. Improved by 0.7 seconds to 47.0 - increased the damper to 7 (usually 5). My seat pad slipped at one point so 2 or 3 strokes were shuffling my backside about trying to re-seat it - I'll try it without the pad next time. Moved me up the board a little but no boat improvement - still...

Well done Stan - nice steady improvement. Looking good for Manchester Tried the hard 10k today and bailed at 6k (couda/shouda just backed off for 500 but as usual as it wasn't going to be a PB I handled down instead - prat that I am) Did a fast 250 as a punishment and improved by 0.7 seconds to 47.0...

Hi Franky - welcome aboard. I'm 5' 10" also and have some decent times (for my weight and age) so I don't think this will hold you back too much.

Feel free to add a bit more about yourself in the "tell us a bit more about yourself" thread - buried in here somewhere.

First go at the 3k/2.5k/2k tonight

3000 - 11.18.3 - 1:53.0 split
2500 - 9.23.1 - 1:52.6 split
2000 - 7.30.3 - 1:52.5 split

Last rep was HARD after the 14k yesterday.
That's a full set of short and long intervals done once now (I think)

Off to bed now - really tired

10 minute warm up (2399m) then a 250m for the CTC

Then a 12k steady row in 47:29.3 (1.58.7 ave split) at 28SPM (a bit slower SPM than normal as I'm trying to bring it down a bit).

Is there anyway we can set up some RowPro's on the forum here so maybe people can join in. I've had the software a month and not even used it yet. I'm not necessarily talking about races, maybe just training steady pace stuff (or Pete Plan stuff) Anyone out there fancy having a few goes as I really ...

Hope you recover soon Woj - bad timing for the EIRC!

I'm no expert but it sounds like a muscle pull to me (especially if you have a slight improvement today). I usually bounce back from smalll muscle pulls in 3-4 days so hopefully the same for you

I'm happy that my 14 year old daughter (Hayley Plumb) put in a score (2901m) for this month to float another boat. It was part of a deal to let her have extra doughnuts the day before. Unfortunately, it showed up how unfit she was and she ended up with her head down the toilet for a few minutes and ...

I can see the team status (we are 6th at the moment with a total of 81km with 7 members contributing) - Age Without Limits are at 286km in first place. I have just counted 45 FS'rs putting in metres today on the metreboard so something isn't right or there's stacks of us yet to get on this challenge...

Hi John, The way I would read it would be: If you climb on the scales before the row and it says 75kg or less, you are a LWT, if says 75.1kg or more, you are a HWT!! (you have the benefit at home of being able to strip off if you need to achieve this - at the races you have to be " decent"...

Nope, I think it's the other way round - I'm cr*p at anything that involves power and end up rating at ridiculous unstainable rates to try and get there fast.

Longer, less power rows are more my thing

You and I need to do a RowPro 8)

This post could go in many places (CTC, Failed Workout, Pete Plan etc). I was trying for a 4 x 1k Pete Plan but went off too hard on the first without a proper warm up. Hung on to 3:27.7 which is a PB by 0.5 seconds Bailed on the next 3 x 1k as I thought I was going to hack up a lung. Pootled a 32 m...

Wecome Dave! I joined Free Spirits at the start as I was like you - I had no variety to the rows so just climbed on and plonked out a few km - which was getting a bit stale.... Here I am 3.5 million metres later (ish) Now there's no end of challenges and variety. Everyday you could have a new target...

Didn't think I'd make it at one point but have just completed exactly 200k to the metre.
