Re: Name that tune

Thanks Peter. I appreciate your efforts to keep the thread moving. It’s not Gary Glitter and it’s not “ooohhh ooohh oh” and repeat, although there is a similarly repetitive chorus. But the singer of the song is Italian and I think it may be her only big hit (although I could be wrong). Another clue ...

Re: Name that tune

Regarding the lyrics I posted, they’re from a dance tune that was released in the 1990s. As any other lyrics would probably give the song away immediately (assuming anyone knows it, that is), I’ll post another clue. Even though the song was released over 25 years ago, it can be heard quite often at...

Thanks Jill. This song has been in my head recently for various reasons, so I’m glad to get a chance to post some lyrics from it.

Thanks for the clue Jill. I think Peter has the right era, but that it’s actually the Walker Brothers. And the song is The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore.

Re: Name that tune

RIP Jimmy. Does that clue mean it's Jimmy Buffett and Marguerita Time? Not an artist I really know and a song I barely know but his passing was widely reported and the song part played a few times Close. It’s actually Margaritaville, so I’m happy to pass the baton back to you, unless you woul...

Re: Name that tune

This is getting no nibbles, let alone bites so I'll cull it. It was She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult. Happy for someone else to chuck in the next one. In order to get things moving again, here are the opening lines of a song that should be very familiar to our American members. Maybe not so well kno...

It looks like nobody knows this one. It’s A man needs a maid by Neil Young. As I hadn’t really guessed the previous one, I’ll throw it open to whoever wants to put one up.

Looks that one has everyone stumped. Those were the first two lines. Here’s the full verse. My life is changing in so many ways I don't know who to trust anymore There's a shadow runnin' through my days Like a beggar goin' from door to door I’ll post the answer in a day or two if nobody gets it.

Re: Injuries.....:(

Did my first row in 5 months on Friday. Felt OK afterwards, if slightly out of breath. Then I woke up during the night with an excruciating cramp in my right hamstring. It’s been sore ever since and I’m struggling to put on my shoes and socks. I can only attribute it to my session on the erg, althou...

Re: Name that tune

My last clue was the opening two lines of the song but as It doesn't look as if this is going anywhere, the answer is, Won't Get Fooled Again by The Who. Paul, as you did put up a suggestion, I will nominate you to take over the baton. :) Hi Jill I clearly hit on an old post and somehow got the ide...

Re: June's CTC Challenge:

As this month's CTC is pretty straightforward, I finally managed to motivate myself to get back on the erg for only the 3rd time this year. Did 5 minutes warm up followed by 941m in 4 minutes. I remember being horrified when I only managed 964m after a similar break a number of years ago, but I gues...

Re: Name that tune

Is that a cryptic clue to the song? Ah, sod it - I Googled the lyrics - it is... I know the artist through their one major hit (in the UK as far as I know) but not this song at all. That said - it's a really nice song! Did likewise. Never heard that particular song before. Or, if I did, I don’t rem...

At this stage, I have to accept that nobody knows Bed of Roses by Bon Jovi.

As Paul G came closest, I think he should put up the next song.

Re: Name that tune

First clue - used in an iconic scene from a 1994 movie I’m guessing the movie is Pulp Fiction and the scene is probably the one where John Travolta dances with Uma Thurman. I think it starts with the line “She was a teenage queen” or something similar. I think it may be called “You never can tell”....

Thank you Jon for the reply and your thoughts. But of course I also think that it would be better if y...
