Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread
Oh well done =D>. I am weighing in the morning but unfortunately I was in Sainsbury's yesterday, and you know those giant cookies - the ones they bake in-store that are about the size of a tea-plate? Well they sell them in bags of four. And, I ate a whole bagful last night   So I churned...

Re: Poor Breathing
Now that makes a lot of sense - just concentrate on breathing out....
And sing along - oh yeah! I can do that! There is every chance no-one else will appreciate it, but I'll have a lot of fun .

Re: Poor Breathing
Thanks Iain - that's very helpful. I dunno if a Powerbreathe would help me then. I don't think I would ever do a marathon at any more than 24-25 spm and I don't have any intentions of trying to get faster at short distances - not my bag at all! I only usually take one breath per stroke and I suppose...

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread
Ah. I'm good with all of that but the no chocolate will take a bit of willpower. Still - no pain, no loss  Today is my rest day so I'm not adding any metres but I'm on week 1 of a new 16 week plan to improve my FM time as from today. (I love that the plan started with a rest day). But from tom...

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread
Heh - I have recovered from the long row just a bit too enthusiastically and put on 2lbs over the week . I am back at 12st 4lbs so will climb back on the straight and narrow again. Determined to get below 12st by next spring! And I know 4lb doesn't sound much, but just as I think I've got rid ...

Poor Breathing
I am 54 and grew up with both parents smoking 20 cigarettes a day. I smoked from the ages of 17 - 44 and that was also about 20 a day. I don't seem to breathe as well as I think I should. I think by now my lungs should be normal, shouldn't they? Would one of those Powerbreathe things be of benefit t...

I've done mine but erging-time is my only chance to listen to my preferred music so I'll keep going . At the moment I'm hooked on Black Stone Cherry and Halestorm, and need my daily fix!

Re: Christmas Film competition
My son and I both very much enjoyed Jingle All the Way - the Arnie Shwarzenegger (sp) Christmas film. We were talking about it only the other day, and still rate it as fun (even though the ending is a tad cheesey).

Re: Injuries.....:(
Could you possibly build up the footplate of the shorter legged side on the erg to compensate for the difference in leg length? A piece of wood of the right thickness shaped to fit the foot plate and with areas cut out to allow the strap to be done up should do it? Then you'd find out if that is the...

Re: What you do when you row? Music/TV/Silence besides sweat
For the 100km I ran an audio out cable from the TV, connected it to my earbuds, and that worked fine. They're the same buds I use for my MP3 player so I just have to swap connections over. I watched a Brother Firetribe concert (twice - it's a terrific concert) and had a great time! I was going to wa...

....Even more impressive is the subsequent 10k so soon afterwards! ^O^ ^O^ ^O^ Inspires me to dust off the plan I had but put aside for various reasons In all honesty I couldn't think of another way to stretch everything out properly. I did crawl along though, but it was a happy crawl so I don't mi...

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread
Put it behind you Paul - onward and downward! As for me - I'm not weighing today because it wouldn't be a true reading after yesterday's effort. I'll wait until next sunday. I am glad to be getting back to normal eating rather than carb loading (and shoving huge quantities of insulin in to try and c...

Re: 100km Row
Thanks guys! I so much wanted to be a bit faster than that though (well, who wouldn't!) but I'm glad I finished. Now, of course, I know I can do it so it's just a question of getting stronger and more powerful so I can get faster.
It was enormously satisfying.
