Re: August ctc - 6 x 1' / 1'r, rolling starts except #1

lwt 8)

Doesn't get any easier does it ?! First rep was easy(ish), had an ergistential crisis in #4 & couldn't feel my legs by the end. 5 metres further than my hwt score but I felt every one of them.

Well done everyone who has done this one, it's pretty tough !

Re: August ctc - 6 x 1' / 1'r, rolling starts except #1

Loving the enthusiasm on this one - great work all. This is probably a textbook example of how not to pace this one ! I put the drag up to ~ 130 (I usually use ~ 103 for everything) & it really felt tough by the end. I also completely messed up a rolling start on #6 #-o & should have been go...

Some cracking attempts here already - well done all. Not really sure about pacing so I thought I'd try to hold the first 4 under 1:40 pace (allowing for a bit of fun in the 111) & take it from there. Perhaps I could have pushed slightly harder on the first 4, given that I was a little faster on ...

Re: June ctc - 10k, no stroke rate restrictions

A 10k feels much more in line with my current state of fitness & training so I thought I'd get one in early doors with a vague hope of a few more attempts through the month depending on temperature. 10k is certainly long enough to work up a good sweat !

Re: May ctc - 1k / 3'r / 992m, standing starts

I can only apologise for leaving my one and only attempt so late. What with marathon rows & then returning to lwt following my post-marathon celebratory refuel this lunchtime was my remaining window to get a time in. With no previous feeler attempt it was an unpleasant fly & die with an over...

I've been working on long steady distance in advance of a sponsored marathon row I'm doing for The Brain Tumour Charity next month so last nights contribution was a truly horrible shock to the system. I'd forgotten just how long a 500m can be !

Re: March ctc - 2 x 15 min / 3'r, static starts, the slower to count

Some cracking results this month - well done all. =D> Managed to sneak a few extra metres today. Can't help feeling the amount of extra effort required to drop my split by 1 second per 500m compared to last week should have been worth a greater increase in metres but there's no arguing with the math...

Current 5k pace + 2.5s and that was plenty !

Some great efforts this month - well done all ! Bit of a pathetic effort on my part this month I'm afraid as I'm on my way back from a bit of a rib twinge. Hardly done any rowing since the start of the month but rowing no longer causes actual pain, just a bit of odd discomfort so I'm back with some ...

Re: Welsh Indoor Rowing Championships 2017

Great result Plummy - especially as you'd mentioned the early signs of a migraine. I can't imagine it's a helpful environment if you feel a migraine coming on but a 6.5s seasons best is a cracking result. Nice final 500 drive for the line too, very well raced. Great to catch up in person again too. ...

Sorry - been full ninja & a bit late reading this but thanks all. As I get older I find that I dislike 1ks even less than 2ks. There's absolutely no chance to settle & readjust pace, the leg burn seems to start after 200m & it just gets worse !! The 500 must have been great to watch - it...

Thanks for the kind messages & hearty congratulations to Morten - very well raced. Bit disappointed to be over 10 seconds slower in the 2k than at the Welsh but for whatever reason the warm atmosphere in the velodrome got to me & I had to back off at halfway - the 500m splits tell the story:...

Ooft. Last nights effort: DecCTC.jpg That's the least fun I've had for some time. 1st 3:00 was the toughest, just seeing the light at the end of the tunnel helped me give more in the second half I think. Don't know if I'll get another good crack at this one (or if I really want to ;) but I'm going t...

My upcoming charity 100k - eek !

In what seemed like a good idea at the time, I have entered the Row For It 100Km erg in Solihull in 2 weeks time. Training has been slightly patchy due to a series of colds since March but I'm philosophical about over 7 hours on our beloved machine of doom & we'll see what happens. I even collar...

Hi John, I did the Welsh last year & really enjoyed it. Felt smaller than the English but it was a really enjoyable day. It was set out backwards as compared to e.g. the English in that the ergs were facing a wall with the race display & the spectators were behind, looking over the competito...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

That's another great PB John - improvements in the sprinty stuff are not easy to find so a .7 off is great news ! If its any help, my experience with the 500 is very much the same in that it all seems wonderful for the first half or so & then it all goes horribly Pete. I set a new PB (1:27.1) at...
