Re: Beginners
Here's a question - some people have 'LP' in their PB signature - what is this? The only thing I can think of is 'long pull' i.e. the distance travelled from one very hard pull of the chain??? But really I have no idea... Wouldn't the strategy for this if it is a single pull be to basically lean bac...

Re: The Pete Plan
Nice sessions spider and Alan - I find the 4 x 1k session a nasty one, seems okay for the first couple of reps but I always really struggle with the last one - for about the first 200m I hang onto some hope of a fast last interval, but then it becomes a battle of HD survival and any hopes of a negat...

Re: OTW results
Thanks everyone! And if you want to see me in action - here's some video my coach took of me winning the WB1x (womens B grade (36-42 years) single scull at the Australian Masters Rowing Championships a few weeks ago in Canberra. I'm in the yellow boat, in the white zootie with the red stripe. And if...

Re: WAARC - May 2013 - 5km
Had another go this morning - this time just a straight 5k without the 5555m combo so could do a proper sprint finish.
20:15.7 @24spm
Bit heavier this time - 65.1kg but reckon this should still be better than my first attempt.

Re: Drunk in charge of a rower!!
Good effort  At least falling off an erg is hard to do - not sure I'd be game to try an OTW row after a few drinks!! I'm sure I read somewhere that alcohol as an energy source is the easiest / quickest for the body to utilise and so it is burnt first before carbs etc are used so maybe it he...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Is it cheating a bit to post here when the PB is because it's the first time I've ever done a TT over that distance? As part of the 24 hr relay I did the first 10k of my 1 hour slot as a TT. As most of you probably know by now my racing distance OTW is 1k so for me 10k is a very long way! Any...

Re: OTW results
Thanks zoot - actually I had no idea it was so close until right at the end - I don't look around much when racing. But from all the shouting I could hear from the stands I knew it must be pretty close!

=D> =D> =D> to all of us!
Total distance is 238,924m but Yambo and Bob Young haven't entered their distances in the spreadsheet so the total will be even more than that!
Well done Woj for seeing us get to the finish line!

Re: Free Spirits 7th Birthday - 24h - 16th May - 73% full
Good work everyone! I could only manage 57 mins 40 secs  as I ran out of time (tried to squeeze the 60 mins inbetween dropping kids off at daycare / before school care and getting to work) and did 13,363m. I did a 10k TT first up (with no warm up so eased into it) which was my first attempt at...

Re: Free Spirits 7th Birthday - 24h - 16th May - 73% full
Saw the 8:30-9pm AEST slot was empty so jumped on the rower for 30 mins. Managed 6,755m, however, it was on my home rower which is a Rowperfect so hope there is no rule about it having to be on a concept 2?? :) Will be on the usual concept 2 at the boatshed in the morning for my original 60 mins - p...

Re: The Pete Plan
Back on the Pete Plan now the OTW season is over - actually nice to do a rowing session without a) coach shouting at me; b) wind; c) speedboats creating wash! My challenge for the next couple of months is to improve my endurance since I've focussed on the 1000m for so long. So what better than the 4...

Re: WAARC - May 2013 - 5km
Had my first go at the combined 5000m / 5555m this morning - time for 5000m was 20:27.3 @ 25 spm
Weight 64.7kg, age 41.
Felt like a very long way but I guess I have done little more than 1000ms for the past month! Hope to have another go next week.
Thanks plummy

Re: Free Spirits 7th Birthday - 24h - 16th May - 50% full
Thanks for organising! Put in a couple of slots for a 'down under' friendly time - however I had to fill it in on my iphone as I couldn't open the spreadsheet on my work computer and I think it has stuffed up the rows as where were once times was just a lot of '@'s. Only my rows so shouldn't be a pr...

Re: WAARC - May 2013 - 5km
Good effort Alan - I'm planning to do a similar combined WAARC / CTC attempt very soon. So is the way do to it as you've done it i.e. set machine for 5555m with a 5000m split so in effect taking the first 5000m? I've wondered what the 'right' approach is i.e. this way or taking average split and app...

Re: OTW results
The season is over!! Went out on a high with the NSW State Masters Champs over the weekend - I defended my titles in the A age (27-35) and B age (35-42) single scull, the former I only won by 0.2sec!! Glad to see I still have a sprint finish in me when needed :D We also won the C grade (43-50) quad,...

Sorry I can't do a slot - it's the day where I have the kids at home with me so I can't nip out to do an erg session
