Re: Lifetime Millionaires Club

It would appear I have sailed past the 5 million mark without realising. Must do the next 5 million with a lot more dedication, it's taken over 6 seasons to get this far

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Some impressive weight yo-yo taking place. Well done all who are heading in their desired direction =D> Must do better those who aren't like me  So it's a little while since I admitted my weight. A summer of slacking (lack of motivation, feeling feeble due to a cough, and all sorts of pitiful ...

Re: New toy! (PM5 monitor)

I thought my problems with the PM5 were behind me. But No  There's a wretched "new improved" Concept 2 utility. Who knows what the benefits are, but the problem is that this utility has a "coming soon" feature for backing up your USB drive. Any user of a PM5 will know backi...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

Yay me, I'm in FS I  OK it won't last and I'll be lucky to end up even in FS V by the end of this but I can at least dream for 5 minutes [-o< As I've been slacking recently I'm a bit off pace. But I thought I'd try for around my 2k pace and see what happens. Looks like I was quite close, bu...

Re: Missing mojo

My motivation to row is always unpredictable. My natural instinct is not to do excercise but slump on the sofa in front of the TV. That's evidenced by my erging history where I can disappear for a few months at a time. This summer I am certainly struggling, as by now I'd expect to have times in all ...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Mark, targets are good, they provide incentive, provided they are realistic. 200 lbs may seem a nice round number, but then so does 210 ;) Paul, we are our own worst enemies. Too much of the good life. My waist line took a lot of investment  If I set out hoping that each time I row I was going...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Bah, broken my scales so no weigh in results this month. I suspect that might be a fortunate escape as I've not been anywhere as diligent as I need to be to achieve weight loss. Meanwhile as to what works for weight loss is simply time on the rower, and controlling the intake of food and/or d...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

That's an impressive change Mark. Well done =D> Long term weight change needs to be about change in lifestyle, easier said than done, as someone who has struggled over the year to make any real progress on my blubbery frame. Slow but steady is often better even if not quite so motivating, as somethi...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Time for the monthly update March 2016 - 17st 12lb (113kg) April 2016 - 17st 5lb (110kg) - 1/2 stone (3kg) May 2016 - 16st 13lb (107.5kg) -6lb (2.7kg) June 2016 - 16st 11lb (106.5kg) - 2lb (1kg) OK so on the face of that it's a poor loss during May. Not only was there Madchester, with far too much B...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Having being falsely accused of being a Nonathlon slacker by Rob, I thought I'd better put in a decent 500m unlike the one from last year. Somewhat surprisingly I pulled a PB out of nowhere, improving my 1:38.2 to 1:37.9. Nothing special in terms of other Free Spirits, but not bad for a 50 year old...

I know I failed in my previous offer of assistance, but I'd like to try again. Only thing is that I'm about to escape on holiday for a few days so it might depend on your desired timescale.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

So the marathon challenge allowed me to attack both the HM and FM times. Those were and probably still are soft so scope to improve wasn't a surprise. The tougher challenge was to improve the 5k and Madchester afforded the opportunity. Last June I managed 19:45.6 (1:58.5 ave / 500), which according ...

Re: Madchester 2016 - is ON!

Thanks to Dave and more importantly Janet for throwing open their doors to let in the sweaty free spirits rabble. In a weird way the rowing was good, with some impressive times from many, and then to get fed afterwards was a bonus. Great to meet a number of faces from last year as well as a couple o...

Re: Global Marathon Challenge

Another HM today... and another increase of about 10 watts. (pace 2:24 => 2:20). 1:38:15.0 -- 2:19.7 -- EPOC 255 -- TE 5.0  Today's row was definitely at my current limit. I was huffing and puffing (2 breaths per stroke) from a few minutes into the row, and my heart rate was right at the UT1...

Re: Global Marathon Challenge

I never want to do another FM again. At least not this year anyways. I can claim a small PB at 3:19:44, ave 2:22/500, but as that is somewhat slower than my hoped for minimum 2:20 pace, and given the HM was at a 2:08 pace, I'm not happy. Perhaps I shouldn't have stopped for numb bum syndro...

Zoot you do realise the challenge is that you only need to row 1 HM or FM in the fortnight? You don't get bonus points for doing as many as is inhumanly possible

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

That's a nice drop, and some good other stats Zoot =D> Meanwhile it would appear March wasn't a one off. I've eased back just a tad, probably as I rowed a bit less, and also haven't been quite so restrictive on the calories, but still moved in the right direction. What's equally encouraging is that ...

If you think your backside is sore after a HM, just wait for the feeling when you do the FM next week :D

Meanwhile I've been thinking about my HM for most of the day so far, and keep finding anything else I can do to put it off ....
