Re: Weight loss training program

Paul, If it was easy we'd all have a BMI OF 18-25. I've got to my target weight, now the challenge is to ensure I don't allow a year's good work to be compromised. I've increased my calorie intake to stop the weight loss which has been most pleasant over Christmas and January, but I do have my work ...

Re: nonathlon 2014

I decided to be sneaky and pick up some "easy" points by doing an FM, thereby qualifying for 100 bonus points. I actually picked up 141 points in total because my nonathlon score for the FM was 41 points higher than my lowest score for the other distances. I'm now only 14 points...

Re: January Virtual Team Challenge

2:00 per 500m is 15,000m per hour. At that speed, it would take 7,420 hours to row 111.3 million meters. That's 309 days and 4 hours. We would then need to add another 16 minutes and 1.9 seconds for the last 4,008 meters. Of course, there's also the possibility that you might slow down slightly if ...

Re: Weight loss training program

I'm a classic example of the yo-yo dieter as can be seen from my signature. It tends to be correlated to the amount of exercise I do, but in recent months, the fact that I have completely given up chocolate, crisps, peanuts, popcorn and biscuits is probably a significant factor. Now if I could just...

[-X Unfortunately, I began to struggle around the half way mark and then found myself HDing with around 1700m to go. The HD happened without warning (I just suddenly decided to stop rowing) and I will try to keep going for at least another 10 strokes the next time this happens and hope that this wil...

Re: Weight loss training program

What worked for me? I had a habit of buying a snickers bar and a bag of crisps every time I filled the car with diesel, I was obese (according to BMI) and came to the conclusion that if I rowed off the calories I could eat what I liked. I became a little obsessed with knowing the calorific value of ...

A massive 7 seconds off my HM PB, a 7 second improvement gains one extra point on the Nonathalon! I should be pleased but one point!.....1:31:11.4, another tenth of a second and I could have doubled my increase. My next target is a modest increase of just one tenth of a second, 1:31:11.3 is so far a...

Re: Meterboard 2 updates (was Programmer needed...)

I realised that the Mud Season madness challenge was last season - it will be coming up again - so removed it. I know that would make some people sad, so there is a new Free Spirits Forum Follower challenge, that should turn up who is both a forum user and a meterboard watcher. Seems to be a pretty...

Re: January CTC: 5000m

Part of the problem is that our LWTs are too fast - FSII and FSIII both have 2 LWTs in them. Sorry :) Would we benefit as a team if I re-rowed at a slower pace? Depends on how you define benefit. We would float another boat, but the boat you are currently in would fall down the rankings. If some mo...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Having had a cold and chesty cough over Christmas I knew it would be difficult to get in a boat in the 5K January CTC. My cunning plan was to encourage my daughter to join the team and post a time thereby improving my chances of getting into a floating boat. My daughter posted her time last night wh...

Re: 2014 - targets, aims, ambitions and hopes

My goals for 2014:

1 Row further and a little faster each week and enjoy it more than I currently do!

2 Smile more often

There is quite a lot of work to put in to achieve the first goal, strangely that does bring a smile even if it is wry! ...... Halfway there already!
