2k: 6:58.6 500m: 1:34.5 A sub 7 2k and sub 1:35 500m just for fun 8) ! Those times are not a million miles away from my PBs!!! Congrats to all you PPers! Good to see Ian and Plummy competing as usual. I followed Fred's strategy of allowing a little more time for the 777m and it worked (thank you Fred) in that I didn't hit the wall during the 333m and it allowed for a slightly faster final 666m. But it was painful and I was running on fumes for the la...

However, this morning it was finally a bit colder after weeks with +25degC :-) I used it for a surprising new PB (hence another green one in the meta nonathlon) on the 5k. Well done Tako, glad to hear you are feeling better. Had to go low rate for this because of heat and working nights at the mome...

Juergie, I hope you keep posting updates because I'm interested to see how you get on. I wonder if the awesome number of meters you are rowing will lead to new PBs for you.

5x1.5k @ 1:46.8 which is an average of 0.3 faster. If I manage to get to the end of cycle 3 in July I might just focus on the speed intervals in August.

Very impressed by everyone who has had a 2nd attempt! I keep finding reasons to delay.

Fred, Sorry to hear that, I was hoping you could go a little faster to raise the bar for Tako

The start of my Round 8 this morning went a bit all over the shop: I'm pleased to hear it's not just me that has #-o moments! Today's 12x250m sprint session was very hard. 1:35.1 which is 0.3 ave pace better than last time but there was a bit of trading rate for pace. Hopefully just the effects of ...

Does anyone else find some Nonathlon points are harder to earn than others? Not just short distance power v long distance endurance. For example my middle distance points are... 5k pace 1:47.7 = 918 6k pace 1:48.8 = 920 compared to 5k this seems generous 10k pace 1:51.4 = 907 compared to 5k and 6k t...

Well that was brutal! A number of times I felt like easing off a little to ensure I finished but then with 1k to go I thought I might as well give it everything. Counting down the strokes at the end, seeing 1:45, 1:43, 1:42. If I can just keep this going 4 strokes, 3, 2, 1 but still 30m to go... com...

Thank you Plummy! 6k isn't a distance I have ever rowed but Dave gave me the idea to try one following my 5k PB last month. 21:45.8 @ 1:48.8 means 920 Nonathlon points and the current number 1 spot on the Concept2 (age 50-59) rankings. OK it won't last long but still nice for today

Cycle 2 finished today! Average improvement of 0.6s. If it's not too hot next week the current plan is to focus on middle distance Nonathlon points plus a second CTC attempt.

Ending with 666m sounds like hell! It will be interesting to hear others views on pacing. My initial (inexperienced) thoughts are that 1k pace or 1k-1s might be about right because 70s recovery isn't a long time. Looking at the November 14 challenge it allowed 2 minutes. At the risk of stating the o...
