Re: Summer Solstice Row 2008
I have to agree with Badocter - we've done ourselves proud on this challenge. More so because there were many HM virgins and also becasue so many appeared to struggle through heat/pain/blisters/fatigue/other to get there. As a physical prize, there's only a downloadable certificate - as a personal p...

Re: Rowpro Summer Solstice Challenge HM June 21
Another thing that would be quite neat is if you could you could just watch these races. (or am I being a bit sad now) The thought of sitting down with a glass of fine wine and watching the pain and suffering unfolding, has some strange appeal to me. No you are not sad - I was thinking the exact sa...

Re: Summer Solstice Row 2008
Nice first HM Alan - you would have beaten me! I only managed 1:30.11.1 3 handle downs/one change of gloves owing to the ever annoying blister situation and a loss of about 25 seconds at the start as literally just when Rowpro said "ROW" (on a solo quick race), Mrs Plummy marched in, showi...

Re: Rowpro Summer Solstice Challenge HM June 21
Well done on the new PB Dave - sorry I couldn't join you
I did my own thing on Rowpro and it was probably the hardest yet almost the slowest HM I've done (when I've finished it - I've had plenty of handle downs in the past)

Congratulations Dave - superb achievement. I've often thought of doing similar and never had the commitment to go through with it
Enjoy your cap and gown day - (and take some alka-seltzer before the HM this morning)

Best of luck Max. I may have advised against it but as Stan observed, you have done this before. (I'm still suffering from sore hip flexors and backs of knees even now, two weeks after the event).
I'll stick something in the pot - stuff like that deserves some sponsorship

Re: technique help?
Hi Synchroanna - and welcome to Free Spirits. Are you UK based or further afield? The reason I ask is we are spread pretty much all over the planet now and you may be living locally to a fellow FS'r who could have a look at your technique? Thomas is (as usual) correct that you may be pulling to hard...

Re: Summer Solstice Row 2008
I'd love to be joining you but I'm having that biopsy on my back on Friday. Hopefully it'll only be a little prick ( ) and I can carry on as if nothing happened and actually join in. I'll let you know on Friday if I can. It would be on Rowpro for me Just waiting for the anaesthetic from my r...

Re: The Pete Plan
Back on the PETE PLAN. I've lost sooo much pace with all the 100km training I decided I needed to do something. Started with a 5 x 1500m 1) 5:46.5 ( 1:55.5 ) 2) 5:42.9 ( 1:54.3 ) 3) 5:40.8 ( 1:53.6 ) 4) 5:38.6 ( 1:52.8 ) 5) 5:38.2 ( 1:52.7 ) 1:53.8 Average :( Previous best was 1:49.6 last season so ...

C2 Instructor Course
Spent 6 hours in the company of Mr Eddie Fletcher today becoming a C2 Instructor. It was great to meet such a knowledgeable guy - he has an MSc in sports science (and the man that trains Lord Benton and Anna Bailey). It was also useful to go right back to basics again and look at technique/SPM's etc...

Re: 100k Charity Row
Your own 100k was a great effort as well Bob. I think your achievement is somewhat hidden by the enormous metres you do every day, but nevertheless your own description of doing it shows even you were hurting. HAHA! Thanks and "hurting" just isn't a big enough word to describe it. Below i...
