Cheers Tom - appreciate you taking those slots - an hour is just a sprint session for you, I suppose.

Tom - it would be great if you could grab my 2 provisional spots - I am only likely to manage about 27km at best which is a bit slow and the more people involved the better - just replace my name with yours in those slots.

Seeing as how you are ready to discard last year's heroes - could we have Pietersen back? - we will give you Hashim Amla(the terrorist) and throw in a free Ashwell Prince and Robin Petersen. Looks like England are finding out what South Africa learned playing the Aussies at the beginning of the year...

Fantastic Marathon Petr - 2:55 makes me very jealous. Thanks Stan - been struggling a bit lately - the weather has been very hot and sticky making the rowing really hard work - plan to do a few FM's this week to get some distance under my belt and get back on track - still want a sub-40 10k and a 19...

Well done Dave and MaxDev. BWD - sub-3 is a great effort and you are within 20 points of me in the Nonathlon - looks like I may have to tackle the dreaded sprints again! Max - I also found that the PB's came fairly easily after doing the extreme challenges - I think it is part fitness and part menta...

Great stuff Dave. As you say, there is still a month to go on the Challenge and it is far from over(still expecting 30 or 40 points from your FM, amongst others). Planning to do 3 more 110+ km cycle races in January - nothing in December but will definitely start spending some time on the bike. Been...

Dromedary and Bactrian Camel Challenges

Mike,

I think that the time on these challenges should be elapsed time(like Dodentocht and Nijmegen).
For example, Doing 4x25k sessions with an hour or two break between each could easily be more than 30 minutes quicker than a continuous 100k (especially on the second hump of the Bactrian).

Max - keep it going there, you are going great - and on course for sub-16 hrs. However, you Northern Hemisphere types need to toughen up there :) - you and Mike discussing friction burns and plasters and stuff like that - didn't happen in my day!! Seriously though Max,you are doing really well there...

Don't fancy sharing with "Big Bubba", Iron@rse notwithstanding.
Maybe I could get an ASBO instead - they are so effective(things like 13 year old car thieves banned from stealing cars for a year and other great deterrents)!

My money is on the "red one with horns and a tail".
It's bad enough having a tussle with someone who can't be bothered rowing anything less than an HM - you try and take advantage of having your own machine and do some weekend rows and by Wednesday Mr Sims has tracked you down again!

Jainser - a worthy attempt to trace the origins of my new epithet - those who know me will probably be able to describe the phenomena as "no brain no pain" or something similar. I have to say, however, that Ironar$e met his Waterloo in the form of a semi-retired bicycle saddle assigned to ...

MaxDev Fantastic effort on the 50k there! You will never guess which distance I will be doing this week. :) It was very interesting reading about your observations and goes to show that different approaches work for different people - there is no absolute CORRECT approach. I would never be able to t...

At last!!! SA win the battle of whatever the opposite of titans is. If it was not for David Blunkett's refereeing in the first half in particular(downward pressure?) SA would have romped away with it - really doesn't look great for either side for the RWC next year - in particular England. Anyhow,I ...
