The song is about cooking. He's going to stoke the fire, she's going to stir the pot. Did you see something else there? For my part, I need absolute clarity. I'd be likely to wreck my Pop-Tart based on #2 here. "lowest or highest setting"? They are opposites! POP-TARTS® TOASTING INS...

Jane I got the polar HR belt that attaches to the erg. I'm at the same point as you trying to figure it all out. Your resting HR is wonderfully low. Mine has always run higher than others it seems. Today I put in a half-marathon! Second ever! I've been on a training plan for a specific rowing event ...

You know, I'm trying to imagine Bob Marley's Stir It Up without the redundant "Up" and it's just not working.
Stir it ... little darlin' ... stir it ... (nope, ruins the whole song)
I vote to keep it.
Sorry Plummy

So I tried this 4k beastie two ways... only nudged the boats a bit but at least another was floated  Could not resist Kirby's 2k, 750, 750, 500. Love that plan. Eat your 2k worth of vegetables, then you can have assorted little desserts, 750, 750, 500. Right. Easy! 2000m - 2:00.3 @ 29, r2:0...

Hi henri - you must be the henri who arrived on the meterboard below me and proceeded to rocket past me and out of sight. It was sort of like being at the airshow when the f-18s sneak up and whoosh over everybody's heads. Nice to have you. Fedor... my husband has a strict "no cardio after beer&...

Kirby I'm sorry to see the rough patch continuing with additional troubles. You knew that cold would be a bad one even before it fully took hold. Thinking of you and hoping your strong fitness level helps you out. Dental surgery too? Ugh, not fun. Best wishes to you, and Rob to you too with the stra...

I'm in and looking forward to it. Will likely suffer a few bouts of spring fever, but still good for a meter or two.

Re: Rowing in the early (for me) morning
Hi Thomas - I laughed when I read your post. I was never a morning person, and while i love and admire morning people (my husband is one), I was not inclined to become one. That had to change, however, for me to participate in a rowing club where workouts are at 6:30 am 3 days a week. Let me tell yo...

Good job to those working on the 5k training. Glad Kirby & Peter are getting past their colds. I'm on a 3-week pre-race plan so can't post here for now :( but I'll be back at PP in a month I'm guessing. Interesting to compare the prescribed workouts. Today I had to do 3 sets of (3 x 2:00, rest 1...

Lou - to learn pacing, I like the eddie fletcher warmup. I use it for any warming up, or as the first 20 minutes of a distance piece. I had to write my chosen pacing out on a half-sheet of paper, then stick it on my erg. The chart itself would be too hard to follow. http://www.fletchersportscience.c...

Joe and Dave - that is the tricky part, isn't it? Picking that magic target pace. It's agonizing. Tonight I revisited the 8x500r3:30 (start of 3-wk cycle). Goal was 1:57.5 and higher ratings than previous. 1. 1:57.5 @ 31 2. 1:57.5 @ 31 3. 1:57.3 @ 33 4. 1:57.1 @ 31 5. 1:56.9 @ 31 6. 1:56.6 @ 31 7. 1...

All - way to go on your workouts here... I follow them with great interest. Today was my first 2k erg test in months. It was announced a couple weeks ago. Luckily I had joined FS in January to log some meters. Those base meters helped alleviate the terror of knowing a surprise 2k is bearing down on ...

Re: 60 mins for Groundhog Day
Great row Zoot. The funny part was that at 33 minutes in, my ipod suddenly quit. This was OK because it was radiohead and they were making me want to float down the river in an inner tube with a beer, not row down it. But I wanted music so I yelled for my son to come fix it... teenager that he is......

Well -- there went January and for me it was 248,000 meters. Thank you to you all. I joined specifically for this challenge and it was that, and a whole lot more. Averaged 8k / day, picked up a pb along the way (500m @ 1:51.8 ), entered the ctc sprint thing, and tried rowpro for the first time. Lots...

Louise, Graham - glad you are here! I'm new... from one month in, I can say this group will help you in the goals you set out, whether that's getting erg-addicted or just having fun. My goal was an average of 5k per day for January 1-31, or 155,000m. So far I've logged nearly 230,000m with a few mor...
