Re: XVII Australian Masters Games

Judging from the website, this looks as much a festival as a sporting event. Nice!
Best of luck to all three of you!

Hi Fred, thanks for the update!

RGelissen and Rodger are both me. The first one is my lightweight username, the second one my hwt one.

Re: September ctc - 1800m / 3'r / 1200m / 3'r / 1800m

Hi Louise, Like Max said, you can take your 3 x 2k / r4 as a guide for the pace in this ctc. I would estimate you can do the ctc 1 second or 1.5 sec faster per 500m. The 3 minutes rest instead of 4 in your PP session shouldn't make too much of a difference. Perhaps do the first 1800m at 2:13-somethi...

Re: Meta-nonathlon 2019/2020

This could be interesting this year as I am doing all distances (apart from 500m) at R19 in a vain attempt to improve technique and strength. Seeing you're scoring 98's and 99's on middle distances already there is clearly a lot more to come. My times/distances all are better than last season (as f...

There is not much activity, it makes sense to adjust the number of updates accordingly.

Re: Meta-nonathlon 2019/2020

Cheers, Gregor.

Well, you're not the only one with those pesky reds (predominantly).
Is going to be a long wait at the traffic lights to see them all turn green.

Looks like Torquemada (Pepe, I believe) and SandbaggerOne had a decent start to the season though!

Meta-nonathlon 2019/2020

With the 19/20 rowing season almost two and a half months underway, it's time to start up a new meta-nonathlon. What is the meta-nonathlon and what has changed? Here's a quick summary. What is the Free Spirits meta-nonathlon? The meta-nonathlon is a motivational tool, based on the nonathlon of two c...

Re: Meta-nonathlon 2018-2019

To (hopefully) avoid any confusion, this will be a second filter list on the nonathlon website. One for Free Spirits that want to take part in the meta-nonathlon (and are eligible to do so). This list will most likely be shorter than the first, normal filter list. If you want to appear on the normal...

I would have much preferred the standard 2k over this dreadful sprinty stuff!

Re: June ctc - 20 x 300m / 1'r

Finally decided to do this one. The only other option would have been this Sunday, but I didn't want to leave it to the last day. I think I can be reasonably happy with the result: 22:47.0 @1:53.9. Pace was very uneven though. It's just enough to get ahead of Jon & Jon for now, but as I'm still ...

Re: May CTC - 3 x 1k / 5 min rest

Actually wondering why so many wait with their entries until the last days of the C2CTC challenges. In my case it's just a case of delaying something unpleasant until there's so little time left that I can't wait much longer  Especially sprinty intervals are not really my cup of tea, must do ...

Re: May CTC - 3 x 1k / 5 min rest

The bad news: I had to do this as heavyweight still (77.1 on the scales this morning).
The good news: the result was better than expected with 1:55.2 average pace (1:56.3 / 1:55.5 / 1:53.8 ).

Re: Meta-nonathlon 2018-2019

As an administrative notice: when the nonathlon site will renew to start the 19/20 season, it can take a while before I set up the new meta-nonathlon.
For efficiency reasons I tend to wait until a decent number of Free Spirits have registered for the new season and are included in the FS filter list.

Goals for 2019/2020:
1. To stop/reverse this personal trend:

2. To regain lightweight status
3. To get fairly close to my PBs (I'm not saying rowing new ones).
