Re: Meter board banter

The Pete Plan topic is too scary and full of overachievers. There's even some guy with bike race screen grabs! At this stage in my life, I'm only competing with myself I rarely look on this thread but somehow managed today and noticed your post. First of all - well done on your recent achievements ...

Re: The Super Sixties Six with 60

Well done Ian, Joe and Jon =D> =D> =D> I tried this one last Sunday in place of my scheduled 5x5’ session (seemed like a good swap). Unfortunately it turned out that what initially felt like a comfortable pace was too spicy with the (inevitably for a CTC) miserly 1’ rest periods. I baled out on the ...

Me again… Congrats on the PB Ian =D> =D> and I hope you were careful in that there London :!: Nice HM today 8) Bit if a niggle in the upper back during this morning’s 30R20, but took it steady and it was no better, but no worse by the end. On another note - good going Jason. Sounds like you’re working hard. I won’t get involved in the supplement debate… haven’t looked into it all for a looong time!!

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Great session Ian - well done for hanging in there =D> =D> Odd weekend mix for me: picked up the weights on Saturday with a new commitment to doing these at least twice per week. Yesterday I sat down to the CTC session, but struggled after going off too fast so gave it up after the third interval an...

Re: Seeking Advice for New Rower

Welcome to the group Hans(?) Sounds like you've made a great choice with that package. I can't really do more than echo Jon's reply above, and especially the RowAlong sessions - if you can literally "row along" to the videos, you'll get some great advice from John as you go, and this will ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Great couple of session Ian - good of Claudius to notice the "Dangerous" classification  I'd be inclined to agree that you'd be likely to fall off the erg before it got really dangerous! Horrible looking 20s/10s session today too, but well executed =D> =D> Mat I got to an hour & t...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23

Thought I’d get this month’s 10k out if the way early given that it’s the furthest I’ve rowed in a couple of years!

Quite controlled throughout but glad it was over by the end

All the best with balancing training and night shifts Jason - are you still building fighter jets? Good to see you managed to squeeze in a half-marathon Kevin =D> I sympathise with the building projects - in the middle of a decking “project” and suddenly we get a couple of issues in one of our cottages requiring the partial re-tiling of the bathroom and the replacement of the kitchen floor. Ian - really good, consistent splits for what doesn’t look like an easy workout =D> =D> Jason - only you could go away for a weekend with the wife and come back with a dislocated finger  Pulled on my big boy pants and did the 2k for the IRL this morning - it’s over on that thread

That’s a solid 30R20’ Ian - good improvement on the previous one with a similar HR drift 8)

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Back on the Erg, and the plan called for a 27’ row @R25 which is essentially free rate for me for a row that length

So I decided to go for a 30’ row as I haven’t done one for a while. Went off faster than planned and it hurt a little towards the end!

That’s a really good improvement on both of those sessions Ian, and well done for hanging on in there on todays last interval =D> =D> That session is deceptive tough  Back on the Wattbike again and up the Alpe as I grind towards unlocking the Tron! 14CAD62A-A3FD-4536-BBB2-5FF3134C309F.png

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

That’s a tough session Ian - push the 24s too much and you struggle to perform the 20s. Looks like you balanced it well =D> =D>

My planned session today was a 1/2/3/4/3/2/1 Pyramid which seemed a good one to swap for the CTC - details on that thread. Glad that’s done!!
