What keeps coming to mind is Pearl's a Singer by Elkie Brooks, but I know that's not it. But I think the "feel" of your song is similar.

Totally agree. I would have got it from the second line, but was too late. I think I know your one, but can't quite place it (yet).

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks for the good wishes folks.

The good news is that my back doesn’t appear to be suffering any Ill effects from my brief session on Saturday. The bad news is that I have a severe twinge in my right hamstring and I fear I may have pulled something. Hopefully, it will ease out in a day or two.

Re: 2022 weight loss thread

Hi J-Dog It’s good that you are putting your relationship first and it’s certainly not worth jeopardising your marriage for the sake of a few pounds. I’ve been at a few parties since I started my recent weight loss journey and I’ve partaken of what’s on offer. But I’ve put a bit less on my plate and...

Re: Returning back-slider...

I finally got around to doing the short session I've been planning to do all week. I set the erg to just row, with the intention of keeping going for ten minutes if I felt OK and stopping earlier if I did not. I couldn't find my HRM or my logcard and it certainly didn't feel easy, but I kept going f...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Good to see you back erging regularly, Colin. I finally took the plunge this afternoon and did my first session in almost 14 months. As promised, I just did 10 minutes and I managed 2112 meters at 2:22 pace. Around what I was expecting and it certainly didn't feel easy. I'm heading off to the West o...

Re: 2022 weight loss thread

Thanks, Carole. My first weigh-in is 89.8 kg. My target is 80.0 kg (a BMI of about 25 - the start of 'healthy'). I know BMI doesn't work well for rowers with lots of muscle, but that isn't me: I'm just fat and bones :-) My losing-weight strategy, for now, is to just to stop eating snacks, and miss ...

Re: Returning back-slider...

Hi J-Dog I had it in my mind that I might venture back onto the erg this afternoon, but the day ran away from me. I don’t think a BMI of 25 is a realistic target for me. I got my weight down to 92kg a number of years ago and people thought I looked emancipated/ill. And that was BMI 26.9. Maybe I hav...

Re: Returning back-slider...

Welcome back J-Dog. I’ve also been off the erg for quite a while, although in my case it’s just over a year, rather than 4 years. Like you, I’ve put on weight, but I’ve managed to lose around 10 pounds over the last few weeks and I’m psyching myself up for a return to the erg. Maybe we can egg each ...

The singer was an American singer-songwriter Paul, although I do not recognise the song and you haven't said if the singer was male or female, I'm going to go for Roy Orbison? Roy Orbison is correct, Jill! As nobody has guessed the song, I think you should put up the next one. https://www.google.ie...

Also, a clue. It’s a lesser known song from a very well known singer.

That is tough Carole. I’ve also been struggling with my weight, and it’s hard enough to keep things under control without any underlying illness. Fair play to you for keeping plugging away. I’ve been off the erg for over a year now because of issues with my lower back. I think it’s kind of a ‘chicke...

I gave up and googled it. I had heard the song before, but I didn’t recognise the lyrics.
