Re: WELCOME to New Members

Plummy - slight mistake on the PB's - they're my husband's PBs!

Swift lesson on entering PB's coming up I reckon. They'll be changed in a minute.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Cracked the magic (for me anyway) 20 minute figure for the 5K in 19.44.4. Feel really good about that!

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Had a crack at a half marathon yesterday and managed 1.34.54 which was about 5 minutes slower than my running time of 18 years ago. Today I decided to make a first attempt at the AWL CTC. I worked out that my splits should be: 1.45/2.02/4.07/2.02 and a final whatever :D . I ended up with 1.50.1/1.54...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Had a day off from training yesterday and returned to the gym on the rig with renewed vigour. The first day of my new C2 training regime required me to do a 2k flat out 500m 1:50.2 1:50.2nice warm up. 2,000m 7:29.8 1:52.4 new PB by 10.5 seconds. The CTC 2k taught me something even though this was ro...

Re: October CTC - Pyramid Row

Bill

Would you tackle those first four reps at your normal 2k pace, 1k pace or somewhere in between. Over simplifying it for me.......... #-o if my regular 2k was 2.00 min splits and1k was 1.50, would 1.55 be OTT? The times are examples.

Re: Motivation for new Free Spirits

I started on the rower to lose weight and saw the Concept weight loss programme. It's been 12 weeks since I started the 10 week programme ( I was without a rower for two weeks) and I've lost 7kg. That's less than my (somewhat ambitious)target of 10kg but I very happy with the result. My body has cha...

Re: September CTC - 2k R24

Just cracked my second attempt at this and managed to knock 5.5 secs off my PB. What a struggle though. Unlike you Stan, I don't think that I'll get addicted to 24 spm. When I entered the time into my rowing log, it wouldn't accept the 16 digit number. Our gym is 64steps down on the main deck on the...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Great day today. This is my last week of a 10 week Concept 2 weight loss programme and I was lined up for 5 x 8 min AT. Started of with a slow one 1777m and then threw in a 4 min session to try and improve on the Challenge Series time. Covered 1112m which was an improvement of 6m. Then did 1963m, 18...

Re: WELCOME to New Members

Hi Damian  I started training with a Concept 10 week (6 sessions per week) weight loss programme. I'm in my last week now and it's worked pretty well in that I've lost 7kg +. ( I'm not saying that you need to lose weight ) It was also a good basis to get going in this sport. Next we...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks for that Badocter.

I was basing my MHR on my age (62). In addition, I'm on blockers ( quad heart bypass) so I have been cautious about how high to push the heart rate. I hung around 134 for ages and then decided to go for broke - no harmful effects (so far :fswink: ).

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Daily visit to the rig gym (Offshore drilling rig in the Philippines): Today's target was 5 x 6 mins sessions as part of my structured 10 week programme from Concept. Warm up was 6 mins and 1445 m - highest pulse rate was 122 Second 6 min rep was 1559m - my best for 6 mins so far and heart rate max ...

Just added my 45k to the total by joining. :fswink: It's a bit of a mountain to climb to overtake the leading team though. Do my klicks count towards the Jupiter orbit? How do I check?

That worked. I don't know how or why I was "unaffiliated" but I am now "re-affiliated" and the stats are in again

Re: Meter board banter

I joined a few days ago and filled in my Log Book on the Concept 2 site and noted with some pride that my name appeared in the meter board almost instantly. It stayed there for a few days but has now disappeared. Is there something I need to do to get back in please?

Regards

Hi

This may be covered some where else on the forum. Is there a method to make the latest post appear at the top of the list in each topic? In other words sorted permanently in 'Descending' mode.

Re: WELCOME to New Members

Hello My name is Bill Wright, I'm 62 and I work offshore in the oil exploration industry. I'm currently working in the Philippines and started on the Concept Rower on the rig. I've now bought one for home use. I had a 4xCABG three years ago and have now reached a stage where some form of training is...
