Paul - just had a quick look at Shomera - good job it's an Irish company! I was very taken with a home gym/hot tub on the veranda combination...in my dreams...

Re: Madchester 2015 - confirmed date 20th June 2015

Hi Jason - We can put up the tent, or if you prefer, in the absence of competition, you could colonise the living room? Up to you of course!

The fox has had three cubs this year....awwww! Which means parts of the garden have been flattened, and extra 'practice' fox holes are appearing....

Re: Hip, hip - but not hooray

All the best with the hip replacement - it will soon be like new afterwards! Not quite the same scale I know, but my mum had a finger joint replaced, and it has been a massive relief to her to be pain free. I've known people go back to all sorts of exercise post hip op....rock climbing, running, hil...

Re: Madchester 2015 - confirmed date 20th June 2015

Yay - go on, Stan, you know you want to! I believe we have both hit the 35k mark on the meterboard for this season. So if we keep plugging away a little at a time it will soon add up. We don't need to go around tearing up metaphorical telephone books, just do a few meters here and there. Gently does...

I could be up for this, assuming you'll have me? ? Course we'll have you! All Free Spirits welcome - all we ask is to let us know for the catering etc. And as for huffing and puffing, you will not be alone! Bit undecided as to the best way of getting there. Train is a possibility but I'm ...

Re: August CTC - Free Spirits to choose challenge

Can we think up something that links into or rhymes with our Free Spirits? Such as "A Free-rated and Spirited Mile"? (my knee jerk reaction to kick things off...) I think there was a 1 mile CTC in November 2008. I remember this for on the 30th of November after flogging 1 mile I had a hea...

Re: Madchester 2015!

Jane D - you need to come up with a plan  I came up with a plan... I sat on the rower and rowed 5k. Ok, not a huge plan, but it's better than nothing! Going to try to do a few more too. I don't want to say it too loud, in case of it being jinxed, but life is a little quieter at the moment. :...

Saturday: to Plummy - Sprints? Nah, not interested. Too short. Don't want to get injured. No. Just no. NO! Sunday: Hmmm. I could just get a time for the board. Maybe? I don't need to thrash it SO hard - any time will do (as Dave always says). Go on... Why not? Actually pleasantly surprised myself! 1...

Re: Feb CTC - The Tribesports Twenty

So Dave casually dropped by and somehow managed to subliminally drop into the conversation the 20 minutes. And how he had done an Eddie Fletcher warm up. And that it wouldn't hurt or be taxing in any way whatsoever. Learn from my mistake people - don't listen to him - he's a salesman! It did hurt, a...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

I am tending to do the longer steady stuff at the moment to get some sort of base fitness although I've done none for a few days. Reason for none is that I'm learning to ski - 8 hours over the weekend, then an hour yesterday - I'm wiped! It is getting easier, so hoping to get back to the erg tomorro...

Re: Madchester 2015!

Hi All! Ah, my heart is warmed already on this cold and wintry day! 8) I am pretty sure I will not be racing, more flying the flag for participation in a great sport that keeps us all fit and well, so no worries about levels of participation, just a good time to be had by all. Can't wait now! :D

Re: Jan 2015 CTC - "The French Quarter"

Well, that was an exercise in perseverance... Training over the last year has been intermittent - a few weeks on, then life takes over and I take 6 weeks off. So after a break of six weeks I rowed a bit on Saturday. Ok. Good to be back in the saddle. Today I think "Oh, I know...the CTC. That wo...
