Re: Madchester 2015 - confirmed date 20th June 2015

Lack of training - a week's holiday in Scotland (fab) and now my asthma is playing up. It would be unwise to push it with rowing but I have just been skiing instead. :D Pumped in the inhaler and off I went. Had my first go down 'carrots'! (very, very beginner race training taster session - ace fun!)...

Re: Madchester 2015 - confirmed date 20th June 2015

Those of you who know my garden from Madchester may be interested to know that it has changed slightly... Today Dave (and to a small extent myself) dismantled the treehouse. It has been there for 21 years, throughout all my kids' childhoods. A sad day in part, but it had to be done as it was startin...

Just back from the first holiday in (cough) I can't remember how long... So here's a picture for Stan, my fellow tea drinker...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks Jill! I've rowed three days in a row, and the lungs are holding up well with the help of inhalers. The inhalers are being reduced now too. Definitely the right thing to do to avoid hard exercise whilst the lurgy was with me. I've done that in the past and suffered much longer for it.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

First row in eleven days - breathing finally under control enough to contemplate rowing again! Loaded up with inhaler for a 5k, the first 2k of which I think I was aware of every (non)muscle in my body. Kept going though, and it got 'easier'! Glad to be back on the erg again. 8)

Re: What should be the challenge for the August ctc

I had interpreted the challenge as 3 x 9 with 3r between each interval. May change my mind about it if its just 3 mins rest in total  You and me both! I'm struggling to choose any row at all - Middle kid brought home cold lurgy, and I've caught it. Can barely speak, chest is tight, and I...

Re: New toy! (PM5 monitor)

That the beta's keep getting revised indicates they are working on something. They are working on a new version of the ErgData app which will upload far more to the online logbook. I only know this because I have been asked to beta test the app too, but the combination of the fact that none of your...

Re: August CTC - Free Spirits to choose challenge

Do we have any further thoughts about next months challenge. I must admit I like the idea of the 9 theme suggested by Jason. I like the reasoning behind it too. It has the advantage of being a decent training piece, whilst being achievable by everyone, whatever level, as it's not too "outfacin...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Looked at my recent metres with the 5k a day in mind, and realised that on the hottest day of the year I needed to row 13k to hit the weekly target, as I can't row tomorrow. A long slow grind it was too! Very sweaty. Ewwww. Glad I did it though - a clear conscience is well worth it. O:)

8:36.8 of initial pain. Then the exquisitely painful 2k cooldown, through the first half of which I whimpered.

Re: Nonathlon 2016

Don't know what came over me - 10k SB last night, so thought I'd do a steady 5k tonight. It turned into 3k warm up and a full on 2k just to "see where I'm at". And then I thought, oh well might as well join the nonathlon then... Over to you Stan!

Re: Madchester 2015 - confirmed date 20th June 2015

Just popped outside and checked the seat height - there is an adjuster to lower and raise the seats. Whether it would lower the seat enough to be comfortable would need to be tested. Next time you're in England Erik?!

- a long lasting memory of my head sticking up above Jane´s Audi Cabriolet - reminding me of some American movie... 8) 8) Slightly off topic, but on my mind....which cars do you fit in comfortably, Erik? It was not just the height that was an issue - your shoulders were too broad for the seat...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I'm now speaking to concept support who reckon trying to set some very odd split times (481m) so I could get the CTC time too may have upset something. My fault #-o I can't see how that could be your fault Rob - surely more of a programming/software/technical issue than you putting a few odd number...

Hi Rob! Nice improvement. :D

We work on trust, so no worries - and a photo (even a dodgy photo) is evidence, so again, no worries.

I bet you do get further improvement soon, so may be you'll get the hoped for log then? [-o<

Re: Madchester 2015 - confirmed date 20th June 2015

Dave, My season's best for a 5k so far, set yesterday, is 23:15.1. This was from a standing start, no warm up (except clearing some stuff from the garage). My times are varying wildly depending on time of day and what else I've been doing, so who knows where I'll be on the day! My training rationale...
