Re: December CTC: 500m

omg, I hate sprinting... :D :D

Goal was just to see if I could do a sub 1:40; managed a 1:38.7

Checking it off, no redo... :D

btw, almost have a 5th boat afloat if we get one more female to make an attempt.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Well, it was yesterday, but I'm just getting around to posting. Had a nice 7500+ 30 minutes row (sub 2:00 is always a bonus) followed by: - 2 sets 20 Push-ups - 1 set 100 Crunches (30 regular, 40 elbow-to-opposite-knee, 30 regular) - 1 set 30 straight-leg leg lifts - 2 sets x8 1-hand dumbbell curls ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Sorry, wasn't trying to bring anybody down - I'm at peace with what's happened. I'm just trying to hold myself accountable and honor Mom at the same time... :) But thank you guys, for the thoughts. She was a sweet woman and led a longish, mostly-wonderful life of 80 years.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

I dedicate today's row to my beautiful mother who we laid to rest in a touching, bittersweet celebration of her life yesterday. I had missed several days of the Holiday Challenge after mom fell ill on 11/26, so I was losing ground on my stretch goal of 200K for the challenge. Today I decided to do a...

Not sure if there's another Ron, but for the record, I haven't hit 200K yet. Still my stretch goal, but not there yet.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Ian, you may want to have your exercise machine exorcised! :D As I related in an earlier post, my stretch goal for the Holiday Challenge was 200K completed while rowing 10K's this month to try to nab my 10K PB by the end. Happy to report that despite missing multiple days of rowing that I'd not plan...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23

Halfway through my 10K, I noticed that my 5K time was a mirror of itself (19:59.1), so I went ahead and recorded it for the IRL - hopefully just a placeholder. Mom went into the hospital on 11/26, passed on 12/14 and her funeral is Wednesday, so I've been stretched pretty thin for awhile as healthca...

Much respect to you folks that manage to maintain a formal training plan. Though mostly lurking, I find this thread fascinating with so many of your collective accomplishments. That said, I am and likely always will be "The man with no (formal training) plan". My number one goal with rowin...

Hopefully you can see lots of bones. If not, let me know.

May just be me, but it looks like a bunch of Skeleton Crew icons dropped off the meterboard since last I looked. I only see one (Collette L-L) right now in the top 50 rowers.

Finally took a stab at this yesterday. It was miserable! Decent time on the 2K despite a brief HD, then each segment after that at a higher pace than the 2K; even the 500M... Ah well, at least I got an entry in... lol

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23

Had another go at this month's row today after a less-than-impressive first attempt. It went better. I narrowly missed a 5K PB (less than 3 seconds), but did manage a new 6K PB by about 7 seconds!

Approximately a 27 second improvement for a 24:50.4

Finally got around to trying this again after my odd first attempt... ;) I thought I'd try a negative split of 1:58, 1:57, 1:56 and see how it went. So instead, I did a mixed split of 1:57, 1:56, 1:58... :D  So much for planning and execution... End result was the same, and I was happy with...

Re: October CTC: 3x2k+2´r

Great effort on the 2K. It feels like there must be another PB in there just waiting. The RowPro failure is a bummer. It doesn’t feel completely stable to me since they did the huge upgrade. I use ErgData for anything I care about. Probably could go faster, I just really, really dislike the pain as...

Accidentally set a new 2K PB today of 7:33.4, a betterment of 3.7 seconds over my 2016/17 season time. See the October CTC thread for the story... :D

Re: October CTC: 3x2k+2´r

I took a stab at this today. I mentally figured that just a week or so ago I set a new 1-Hour PB of just under 2:02, so 1:55 shouldn't be too hard for a measly 2K series of 3 rows with rest between. I didn't do the math to realize that 1:55 was a 7:40 2K pace. My 2K PB sat at 7:37.1 set way back in ...
