Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Well done, Zoot. Steady progress, and reducing measurements, is bang on. Paul: disappointed about the bridesmaids. Any bad dancing you can score as aerobic training? I don't think I've lost anything this week, but lots of 10k's in October sounds like just the job to help with that. Ian: what say the...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

IMG_0015.jpg Peter, gave that a try. 2:16 was OK to start with, but 2:15 got hard, and I only managed a last minute 'all in' of around 2:14 or 2:13. An extra 12m is all you get, today. I have lots of travelling this week, then hols for 2 weeks, so I may not be showing up much for a bit. Thought I'd...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

Peter, Yes, Sir. I'll get onto that today. :-) First half was much easier than the second, but I might be able to add some more metres if I'm willing to push into 160+ HR territory. When I was doing lots of running, 8 years ago or so, I would cruise at 160 and get worried if it crept up to 170+, but...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Nice one, Paul.

You only have to behave on the eating side. Bad dancing and chatting up bridesmaids is obligatory.

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

image.jpeg OK. I tried harder. I was expecting it to be really painful, but I tried a higher stroke rate today. I usually go at around 22 or 23, but I noticed Sheena and others were going at more like 28. The time seemed to fly past. Not sure if it was because I hadn't rowed for a few days and was ...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

Fantastic rowing, Peter, and also a great story of how it went. I can imagine the erg flexing, and the sweat flying, and the occasional rude word escaping your lips as you dig deeper to keep going on pace! I think I'm going to have to turn up the effort a bit on my attempts. I may be taking it too e...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

Nice rowing, Sheena.

That's another 3 seconds I have to find from somewhere :-)

2,300 certainly has a nice ring to it, but I've only got 9 days left to go . . .

It's just as hard for all rowers wherever they are in the ranking, if they commit to get the best out of themselves.
Cheers, Rodger.

At least it's easier to make progress when you're not yet at your best!

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Dropped a tiny bit to 13st 10lbs, so one pound lost over the week.

Very surprised after a bar-b-que at the weekend.

10lb more to go. Might try and aim for 13st by Christmas Eve.

Good luck with the measurements, Ian.

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

Mucho respect to all the proper rowers. Very impressive speeds/distances. At the other end of the list, I'm making you all look better by steadfastly holding onto last place, now on my own in a boat again. Managed to add another 56m, and just crept under 2:20 for the first time since getting back on...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

It's really comfy in boat VII.

Can just see the river, through the doors of the boat house, when the folks in boats VI and V move their heads a bit.

:-)

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Hmm. Still on 13st 11lbs this week, so no loss at all. Maybe that's all I could expect for nearly a thousand miles of driving, many hours in meetings, hotel food, and almost no proper exercise. This week starts the same, with 3 hours on the train and taxi (watch out, Leeds, here I come), but should ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Away on biz all week, so trying out hotel gyms instead of using my home or local gym C2. Didn't work well today. Only rowing machine was a weird magnetic resistance thingy that was horribly lumpy to pull. I done 750k on the C2 and once played away with a Water Rower for a while a few years ago. Both...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Yeah, nice one, Zoot. Great progress. May to Aug looks like a great Summer was had. Now you dropped back into weight-loss mode with a big drop for one month. I managed to get in some metres before the first long drive, and managed to avoid rewarding myself with beer and fish n chips when I got there...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

Lost one more pound, so now down to 13st 11lb. Still 11lbs to go . . . Bad weekend (or rather too good a weekend) put paid to gains I'd made during the week. Had to fix the house a bit, yesterday, (rain getting in) rather than do any rowing. Ladders and sawing and nailing are very tiring, but not in...

Re: September CTC: Tribesports Ten

Sheena, I'll give it a go, but I doubt I'll be troubling your times for a while. When I was rowing regularly, a few years ago, I was down to 2:20 ish splits, but I was always doing longer distances. Never really got down to 2k and below, so this is new for me :-) I guess it will be 2 or 3 months at ...

Re: New toy! (PM5 monitor)

I'm joining in the fun. Got my PM5 yesterday, and installed it last night. Managed to do a 10' on it for the C2CTC thingy. Noticed that the HR monitor wasn't working for the 1k I tried after that – reading on here, the PM5 had switched off and back on and lost track. Hmm. Worst thing was that it now...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread

@Zoot: impressively-sustained weight loss. Looks like new trousers are needed, which must be a big motivation boost. @Paul: maybe you need to measure combined weight and socialising, so it's OK to get heavier if you're having a great time? Putting on weight with no good excuse is bad. Losing weight ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Trying to get back into the swing after a few years away, building up cardio-respiratory capacity gently, so I don't blow a fuse. My 'plan' is: every other day (roughly) do 30' or 5k or 6k, so I get about 30 mins of raised HR. That should build it back up without needing a de-fib kit. Trying to keep...
