Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Very impressed Den ^O^ ^O^ You're averaging more than 15k a day which is amazing in my view! I usually do a PP session on Friday, or past couple of weeks I've been doing a 2k TT - however, my legs are still really sore after an OTW regatta on Sunday which had whitecaps and also the head wind from he...

of course you're right it is far more stable that way!!!KiwiCan wrote:IMHO the most stable boat is one that in in the inverted position. This is not the most desirable position as breathing becomes an acute problem and panic normally break loose among those who are standing with dry feet.

Re: OTW: How do you balance a boat?
Grobi is 100% right in saying you balance a boat with the oars. so the tricky part is that when you row, you have the blades off the water, and you're moving the blades (and the boat), and you need to make sure that you stay balanced. Then throw on top of that choppy water which messes with the bala...

Re: The Pete Plan
Well I think I can call this a PP session, even though a) the rest wasn't the same and b) I didn't finish it all  Had an OTW regatta yesterday, absolutely terrible conditions (I was sure they were going to cancel it, they 'reviewed' the situation a number of times but decided to keep going, ap...

Good results guys =D> =D>
And Mike you're going to have to have another go to get under 3 minutes!
If you're like me and like to know what's coming up next - the April challenge will be 639m (apparently this is the combined age of the members of the "Gee Crew"), unrestricted.

Re: WELCOME to New Members
I reckon it's the 1000m PB that has to go - so close to 4 minutes, and if you can do a sub-8 min 2k then you can probably do a 1k around 3:50??colin bradley wrote:Welcome Richard, well done on the sub "8 matey " so whats next then? that 500m PB just has to go

Re: Meter board banter
Had a look at the season meter board to see how I was going - I haven't been logging my meters for long so was not surprisingly a fairly long way down the list! But what I was just blown away by was the distance some people are rowing in a day / week! plummy's distance I knew about ^O^ ^O^ , but the...

Re: The Pete Plan
Final question, then. How often in the week do you do these sessions, and what is the usual recovery time for them? I'm guessing you wouldn't usually follow one of these with another two days later without expecting some side effects and loss of ultimate pace? For the shorter speed sessions I actua...

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
Well I suppose I'll just have to row a bit faster then  Had second go at this today, was aiming for '97.5%' effort this week, to hopefully set me up for a flat out effort in the next couple of weeks. Aiming for 1:54 pace this time, managed a time of 7:35.7 @ 31 spm (average pace 1:53.9 :) ) De...

Re: The Pete Plan
Out of interest, which of the Pete Plan sessions do you guys feel is most beneficial for 2k performance. Or 1k performance? I can't comment yet on the 2k question, although I'm suspecting the 1000m and 1500m sessions from how I've felt after doing them (did the 1500m PP session on Monday and I'm su...

Re: WAARC - March 2013 - 2km
If I have a spare hour or two during March I'll have a look at some results from e.g. the Crash B's and normalise them for age and weight and see if there is a more scientific estimate we can use based on empirical results Well that plan has failed already - crash b results don't show weight, where...
