Great job by all FS! =D> This was a tricky and tough one.
Rolled around on the floor for a bit before I checked my score. Very pleased to have squeaked under 6:40, hit my SR targets and floated another boat!

Always impressed with your middle distance work Felton. =D>

This is a pretty quirky one and therefore I don't see it generating a huge amount of interest. In addition since no screenshots are required the rules will be impossible to strictly enforce. Ergdata has a stroke counter feature. http://www.concept2.com/service/software/ergdata The 22 and 26 w...

Re: May ctc - BW Rowing sprint monster
Gave this another try. Bit of a comedy (tragedy) of errors. Had no plans of doing it but got interrupted by calls 2 times during weights workout so wanted to get something done from start to finish. 1st rep my slightly baggy shorts got briefly caught in the seat roller and on the last rep the 1st sp...

Thanks guys. Short stuff is definitely my strength and preference. Lately anything over 1k feels long.

Re: May ctc - BW Rowing sprint monster
Stomach flu paid me a visit about 10 days ago. Took its toll as I lost 6lbs and what feels like months of progress. Cest la vie. Figured I'd use this as a feeler. Hopefully more in the tank if I rate up a bit and gain back a few pounds of pulling power. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170501/2a38...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Huge chunk of meters added to your PB so well done! ^O^ Looks very good to me. It's only poorly paced when you're the one rowing it. All joking aside it takes a lot of determination and mental/physical toughness to head out at that pace, realize it's a bit ambitious and be able to hang on and ...

Re: April ctc - The Sub 7 Sprint Spike
Nice work all! This ones a bit more in my wheelhouse. 1st set of 177's were pretty uneventful but I could tell pain was looming on horizon. Thought I went out too quick on 777 but got into a groove and held 1:34.5. 2nd 2:00 rest flew by and last 3 hurt. Will probably do at least one more but happy w...

Re: The Pete Plan
Felton - based on this workout and your CTC - I'm positive you have a faster 2k than that in you right now. If this is roughly 2k -3 you're sub 6:50. I'll be following your progress and probably checking in occasionally myself. I've been revisiting some PP workouts recently. Forgot how challenging t...

Re: March ctc - Bob Spenger memorial row, 5142m from a standing start
Super job Felton! =D> Glad I provided some inspiration. My plan was to go a little faster too. The only thing that stood in the way was the 5142m. Just "one of those days". Felt pretty good in warmup but as soon as I started I knew it wasn't going to be pretty. If there were more day...

This was tough (bordering on awful) from start to finish. No way I'm giving it another try.

what training have free spirits been doing today?
CTC result will largely depend on how much discomfort I'm willing to withstand. Not enough time for waterfall this afternoon and didn't want to row after dinner so chose this.Took a look back in my training diary and found I did this workout on 3/20/2015. Avg then was similar - 1:40.8 - bu...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Are you doing any interval work Felton? I'm focusing a bit on 5k type stuff mainly due to this months CTC but basically striving to be a jack-of-all-trades/master of none. Did this so far this week: 15x500 - r1:30 - 5k'ish rate/pace - 28@1:44.7 10x250 - r1:00 - 1k'ish rate/pace - 36@1:32.7 3x4000 - ...

Re: March ctc - Bob Spenger memorial row, 5142m from a standing start
Like you Claudius I haven't done all out 5k in a long time. Covered everything except for the distance and went with a pace/rate that was relatively "comfortable". Plan to use this as an excuse to do some 5k training and take a few more shots. Based on training intervals I'm hoping to get ...

Re: The February CTC
Thanks Zoot and Greg. Zoot I'm a "bit" OCD so I break rows up into sections and do a lot of counting. That seems to help get me through the and keep things pretty consistent pace wise. This one (based on 30spm) was 3 blocks of 15. Greg I have definitely "snuck" back in to pretty ...

Re: The February CTC
Did an all out/free rate attempt. Given the fast last I probably could have squeezed out a bit more early on but the "rest" doesn't provide much margin for error and I didn't feel like I had much more to give on any of the later reps. Just the knowledge that it was almost over propelled me...

February 14th Carole McNally Memorial CTC
Used this as an idea if where I stand 2k wise. Felt pretty good but would definitely have to back off a second to survive.

Re: Crash-B 2017
Funny thing with me is I've lost the will to push beyond on the rower and picked it up in the world of Crossfit doing strange things like burpees, wall balls, double unders and box jumps. I'm in better overall shape now then when I rowed a 6:35.5 2k but just don't have the desire/courage to enter de...

Re: Crash-B 2017
Well done John! =D> Traveling across several time zones, rowing at a time and place not of your choosing and doing that well is impressive. Clearly a lot of the times were a couple of seconds slower. Several people I saw recently go sub 6 (Luke W, Charles G.) didn't accomplish that in Boston. Just a...

Re: The February CTC
Claudius last year we got a fitness grant and I was nominated/appointed to the "purchasing" committee.   No one else goes near the rower. Occasionally there will be a brief (2-3 minute) session saved but that's about it. As far as power at low rates goes I have reintroduced...
