Good grief there's an almighty gap between me at no. 8 and Karl Meyer at no. 7 . I think once I've dug myself in comfortably in this slot I may well just be trying to stay put rather than paddle further up the board.....
Come to that, just hanging on here might not be that easy!

Re: LADIES banter/training/motivation thread ??
Y'know I'd almost rather it were cool and mildly drizzly for a long endurance event; certainly easier to work in than hot weather (for me, at least). Is that this month? Are you doing it for charity or is it a personal test? Either is terrific! Will it be with her running and you rowing, or do you r...

Re: Charity Marathon - Children's Hospice South West
Umm, not really Plummy because I didn't know it was broken. It went numb almost immediately the initial pain subsided and I didn't know there was anything wrong with it until I took my socks off after I was finished. But lesson learned, I think. I shall have to get some slippers. I hate footwear; I ...

Re: Charity Marathon - Children's Hospice South West
Oddly it didn't hurt at all while I was rowing. It damn well does now though! The nurse taped it to its neighbour, with a little pad between them. Because of the diabetes I had to get it looked at but it's a clean break and should heal well. I'm seeing her next week about other stuff so she can have...

Re: Charity Marathon - Children's Hospice South West
That went very well considering just before breakfast I broke a toe. The one next to the baby toe on my left foot. Stupid accident - I had bare feet and was walking down the hall when I kicked my Concept's back stand thing. (Waiting to be put in the car). I thought I might have broken it but wasn't ...

Re: Free Spirits Vest or T shirt? Where?
Bit of searching on here proved productive :D Yes, though I appear to have deleted it  Here is the main logo: http://www.freespiritsrowing.com/content/uploads/images/finallogo.gif I also quickly knocked up a reversed logo in pdf format that can be printed on to a transfer. You can see this in ...

Re: Free Spirits Vest or T shirt? Where?
Wendy I bought some iron on transfer paper for my printer and copied the team logo to a sheet and ironed it on. It was quite successful and I used it at the second competition that I entered. Total cost about £10.00 and for that you could print as many logos as there are sheets in the pack. Bill Oo...

Yay - I have bought a grey T shirt (navy isn't my colour. My mum said it made me look like I was dead!)
No vests or patches - hmmm, maybe I could get inventive? Is that allowed?

Re: LADIES banter/training/motivation thread ??
Mostly I munch 'cos I love it . Also, it's the one time when I get to play heavy metal music really, really loudly, and I play it for the duration of the row. I'm not totally sure my neighbours appreciate some of it, but it's always during the day and never in the early morning so I don't feel ...

Free Spirits Vest or T shirt? Where?
I would love some Free Spirits kit - not got a lot of spare dosh but I could run to a vest or a T shirt I think. How do I get one please?
Also - do we do the little Spirit rowing as a sew on patch, and if not why not? I'd absolutely love that! Or as a stick on patch for my C2

Re: Charity Marathon - Children's Hospice South West
Thanks Stan :) The only thing that I'm worried about is the heat. The office windows don't open (some genius of modern design) and they have air conditioning instead. The two people organising this have no idea how hot you can get rowing. I shall take my 14" fan, and I have a C-Breeze fitted bu...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread
Good grief! I lost 2kg  I know why. It is hard for insulin dependent diabetics to lose weight if we consume more than 100g of carbohydrate a day simply because insulin is a hormone which (amongst its other functions) actually encourages weight gain. For most diabetics then, lots of carbs = lo...

Charity Marathon - Children's Hospice South West
My office is running a charity event raising money for Children's Hospice South West and I'm taking my Concept along and rowing a marathon. They are borrowing exercise bikes for staff to use and a couple of rowing machines but - gasp - they aren't Concepts, so I said I'd take my own thanks. If anyon...

Re: 2012 Weight Loss Thread
I stayed the same. Which is I guess is better than gaining, but doesn't actually feel that good at all. It didn't help that we had takeaway on Tuesday (which was the day my son moved house and we were all shattered), and then there was a meal out on Friday. I didn't exactly disgrace myself but the h...

Re: Meter board banter
Today was great fun! Music was good, mood was just brilliant. I slept in this morning until about 8.30 a.m. (never sleep that late normally) and think I must have been tired because I feel so much better. Finally recovered from helping son move to his new house - haven't worked that hard for years!

Re: Past Rowing Insanity
I'm starting at the end of July with just three sets of two on, two off - and then I can build up endurance gradually over a few months. I'd start sooner but I'm supposed to be doing a marathon for the office charity on the 20th so I want to get that done with first. The really impressive feat I thi...

Re: Past Rowing Insanity
I would 'cos I want to improve my marathon time and I could pinch good ideas from you :D At the same time I am working towards a plan. I read that Cracknell and Fogle book about rowing across the Atlantic and they do 2 hours on, 2 hours off. For the whole journey. I want to know what that kind of ef...
