Re: The Flat Stanley thread
This thread is awesome! Until now, I thought Flat Stanley (on the other thread) was a nickname for a former Free Spirit you were all reminiscing about. I guess, in a way, he was!

Re: Injuries.....:(
Sorry to hear about the injuries (and the accompanying self-reflection) that interrupted your course, Tako. Sometimes the body just says "No", and we have no choice but to back off and try again another day. Best of luck as you maneuver through recovery!

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Just under 35 miles on the mountain bike today. Set a few segment PR's and tackled a black diamond trail I've been avoiding for the last two seasons. I should have kept avoiding it!
Really feeling it tonight, so will likely be another lazy day tomorrow!

Re: September ctc - 8 x 2‘ / 2‘r
How does that compare to your 2K pace Ron? Sorry, Jon, but I'm not really sure. After several years of ignoring that row, I tried to do a "real" 2K a couple of weeks ago. I was intent on holding 1:50 throughout and managed to hold it until just after 750M... :D I haven't tried again since...

Re: September ctc - 8 x 2‘ / 2‘r
Ugh! and Oof! are my thoughts on this one.
Managed a 4373/1:49.8 on this one. The first two minute rest felt like way too much. The second and so on felt not nearly enough!!
Best split was the 2nd at 1:46.3; Worst was the seventh at 1:52.3. None were my idea of a good time!

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Thanks, gents. One thing I've come to realize is that I probably left a lot of accomplishments on the sidelines when I was younger as I never had time to keep up with everything at once. It's nice to be fit enough at my age to improve some of these numbers now that I have more time for my various in...

Damn, Claudius; that is crazy! I'm sorry to hear you were injured especially since you were supposed to be in a state of rest at the time! Here's hoping for a speedy recovery.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Racked up a couple more today... As usual, without any prior planning. I'm a bit weird in that I usually set and adjust my targets during the row rather than before. This month's IRL was a 4 minute row, so I knocked that out after a 1K warmup. In the process, I beat my prior best 1K (from six years ...

That's a lot to take, plummy! My condolences for the loss of your Dad. And belated condolences on the loss of Mum & brother, too... It may sound trite, but the best thing you can do to honor their lives is to continue to live your own best life, whatever that may entail. I hope your health scare...

keep this thread for PP sessions It's funny you say that as I've been casually lurking/snooping in on this thread over the last several months and kept thinking to myself, "This Pete Plan thing sure is complicated!" I had no idea until just now that you guys were posting anything but PP r...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Did 30 miles on my mountain bike yesterday at my favorite local(ish) destination trail. I started off rather hot and had to back it way down at about the 1/2-way mark. Still ended up with an about average overall mph effort. If anyone's curiosity gets the better of them, you can Follow me on Strava ...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Sat down to get a head-start on Week 4 of the Dog Days of Summer with a one-hour paddle. Half-way through, I realized I could up my pace a bit to threaten my SB. Turned into a PB even after starting my sprint a bit too early and having to HD very briefly at the 1:45 mark. Logical brain kicked in and...

Re: Dog Days of Summer
The Meterboard icons have been refreshed. Thanks, Jon! Steady, one hour for me today to get things rolling. I'm not sure how "I think I'll take a page out of Jon's book and just paddle an hour to get a head-start on week 4 of DDoS" turns into an Hour of Power PB, but here we are....

Re: August ctc: Crazy Eights - Triple Crown
I had about 5K meters left to do for my weekly Dog Days target, so I decided to pop this CTC in there as part of it. After a 1K warmup, I was pleasantly surprised to surpass my 1:55 goal pace. Pretty consistent, though that third effort felt a lot harder than the other 2... :) Also interesting to se...

[*]Draggon (sorry I don't know your real name) Hey Jon - I'm Ron. (it's at the very bottom of my PB sig graphic) We should form a surf shop or something. (US-centric joke. "Ron-Jon Surf Shop" is a very popular beachy shop on the eastern seaboard and especially around the Florida coast)

Enjoyed reading that, Mike! Sorry about those "lost meters", but your old hips knew you did 'em!
