Re: September CTC - Joan Van Blom Cancer Awareness Row

I'll definitely not miss this one. Couldn't agree more, she is an inspirational lady in so many ways and she deserves the support from a community of people to whom she has given so much. Great idea, I had been hoping there would be a row devoted to her.

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Hard lines on your latest ctc attempt, you can forgive yourself for the overall number of attempts you average ^O^ [-X 8) I'm sure you are still within just a few days of supreme fitness if you Dan get in the right frame mind. A second ctc attempt for me today, concentrating on an easier first rep a...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Great to hear from you Mat, sounding leaner and meaner...than ever, some fast running, I'm following a couple of triathletes on FB, one is pro so scary stuff to consider! More plagiarism from a popular advocate of continuous training, fits in well with my current pace for copying sessions 8) ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Yesterday .... 40' 10960. 1:49.4. 24. 163 (EHR range 163-179) One those curious days when you start out not feeling so great, but then holding a pace faster than planned. I had woken up tired after all the hedge trimming and the previous days intervals. Happy with the result, but it really shows HR ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Great stuff with a fine improvement on your c2c time Erik. That second rep hurts, it just seems the first rep can be done close to 2k pace, but that hurts more in the knowledge there's another kilometer to come soon! I don't know how much more training I can get I before we go to Germany, but if if ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Intensity of your 5k very commendable Erik, and your getting the distances back up there also with two fine 30 minute sets, a successful reduction in rate with an increase in distance very nice also. =D> =D> I nicked one of PMs 5k training rows (from online blog), after noticing his similar (but fas...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Amazing what a difference intensity at work can make Erik, though there's nothing you've done which could be considered as rest, or even remotely close it! Good to be mixing in the cycling, i would imagine you've been helping sort your Father''s affairs, since you live some way away from Copenhagen,...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Well done for getting a late c2c entry in Andy for July and great first attempt on this months, seems like you're already making up for the HD's. It is always worth dropping the pace and hanging in there if at all possible, the final result is usually far better than the HD demons would have you thi...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

I was just wondering how you were getting on Mat, and had expected to see you back on here late Autumn like last year. No need to apologize for substituting an indoor sport with 'proper outdoors stuff' though 8) You are in a great environment for swimming, running and cycling (though perhaps a littl...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks Erik, I did though have a days rest the day after traveling, which was a bit lame, but listened to my body  A fast 1500m, at just less than full 2k pace? Certainly followed by yet another high (for the uninitiated.... Or even initiated) pace 20mins even f you did stop short of the intend...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks Steve! 10k it was :!: 36:47.3. 1:50.3. 23. 169avEHR TE on watch was 5.0 That was tough, a baptism of fire which was not planned but probably inevitable! It is interesting to see quite how much the initial losses are, from June 8th: 35:49.4. 1:47.4. 24. 170avEHR Almost a minute for almost iden...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks for keeping the thread alive Erik despite the intensity of the heat, you've continued to accomplish more formidable training leaving with even more catching up to do (but I'll enjoy trying)! It seems as though you've been working a lot on the shorter distances at very high intensity. Thanks f...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Whilst you might not have been training to your usual volumes Erik, a c2c and 40 mins of fine quality will still be keeping the cogs moving very nicely, and the break will no doubt aid useful recovery. There's no better cross training than cycling Andy, a very useful mix to improve your endurance an...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Ok, so now Stateside visiting family in Knoxville Tennessee! Just arrived last night so feeling smug I've already had a workout. I'm terrible at running though it is the most easily accessed exercise. I've just been for a run around the neighborhood, two hilly (very) loops taking 11mins each with fi...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks Erik. Considering you've had so much going on with your work, a wedding and organizing your father's estate, you've done extremely well to train as you have Erik. 40 minutes at 1:46 takes some steely determination, very close to 11300 now  ^O^ ^O^ ^O^ 8) Amazing to be getting closer to...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Two days off training, very busy at work and somewhat exhausted... I did get some shrub pruning done in the garden, which counts for something I guess  Feeling tired again today I thought I'd opt for a 60@20. As it happens, I took off faster than intended, then decided to see if I could hold on...

Re: over training or what's the issue?

Thanks Barbara, the phone app sounds interesting, their website doesn't explain how it arrives at its conclusions. I have found some phone apps very useful, like ones for monitoring sleep, but they still require knowledge for interpretation. Having been through an experience of overtraining yourself...

Re: over training or what's the issue?

Some good advice there from the team for you Marcus! You can depend on FS ^O^ :fswink: Sometimes low grade viral infections can cause fatigue, and there can be post viral fatigue also which takes well judged reduction in training to get over. Also the effect of other life stressors can significantly...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

I doubt you've lost as much as you think Andy, certainly I wouldn't judge it on one session alone, I bet you'll get a good c2c together later this month. You do still train anaerobic pathways whilst doing the longer sessions, the hardest aspect is mental, I find easing into each minute with a lower ...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Very nonchalantly posted Mikkel for such a superb result on your late c2c entry! Congratulations, that is a fine time. Now I suspect this months c2c might suit you because I know you like springy stuff! Now we'll let you have a few seconds for the age gap... And a few more for the weight difference,...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

60' 15457m 1:56.4 19 avEHR 151 (range EHR 10' splits 145-154)

I'd aimed at 1:58 pace, no next time I aim to do a UT2 piece I'll aim for sub 2:00 and see what the heat rate does, I should keep it below 150 really otherwise I won't recover enough for the harder stuff I need to get on to.

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Thanks Andy. I suspect you'll fare better than you expect, if my experience is anything to go by. I've not been training any sprint intervals bar the last couple of concept 2 challenges, which you've also done and performed better in. This is certainly a very hard session especially without the prep...
