Re: The Pete Plan etc

That's a high rate Jon. But the heat this week will be a factor too. I've been working on aerobic base for weeks now. I had a target of sub 60 minutes for my nemesis 3 x 5k R20 with a 75%HR. Getting closer now [emoji41] I wouldn't dare place my bike-erg stuff in this thread though [emoji846] even wi...

Re: Queensland Indoor Rowing Championships

Thanks Kevin, My problem is figuring out what pace to hit the 2k at. The ctc was a good indication for 1k, probably around 1.55 ish. The 500 and 100 are fly and die but the 2k will require some thinking this week. L. You would not believe the number of conversations I have had on 2k pacing 🙈🙈 my po...

Wow Paul 120k walk over two day !! 48 k for a Saturday stroll 😂

Doesn't sound to bad on the erg either 👍 I'm always amazed by your DF 🙈

I'm going to start building in more pace to my training in June. I think it's going to be a shock 😂🙈😂

Good luck Lesley with your taper/race prep. Be a good baseline test for you.
Injury free is the key. I've no doubt you wont be that slow though.

Re: recap on 20/1 and targets for 21/22

I didn't join FS until June of last year.. I had never heard of the CTC IRL let alone the motherboard or the Nonathlon. My ambition for last year was to have a go at an indoor race and see if I enjoyed it. Unfortunately it was cancelled due to the pandemic 😔 But if it wasn't for that I wouldn't have...

Re: Foot straps and othe questions

I'm no rowing coach. But I would say that stroke is short of your potential. I'm 179cm size 12 feet in position 1. My stroke length is 1.30 to 1.36. I would say Jon's is very healthy at 1.45 to 1.48 Have a look at this YouTube clip. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=_G6kUbc-hl4 Squat university is well ...

Re: Strength training(on and off the erg)

Paul that's tremendous 😎 @ DF350/60 😳😳 200 more than I have ever rowed with.
The Bike-erg has been a brilliant addition. The Ski-erg has helped me invent a few devil sessions. It still remains a nemesis but I'm not giving up

Re: Strength training(on and off the erg)

Today's tough session was a 60 minute Bike-erg. Beginning to get use to it now. I'm building up hopefully to a 50k if my rear holds up [emoji23] finished off with an easier 30 minute row. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20210514/5f768618b61d04f738c3143031f46ad4.jpg Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapata...

Had my 2nd go at this one today. I planned to do this as an all-out effort. Re: Injuries.....:(

Jon have you thought about buying some knee sleeves for weight training??
It would add some stability & give you confidence. I use some single ply ones from the strengthshop. I find them useful especially when doing single leg stuff 👍

Glad your on the mend though 😎

Re: Strength training(on and off the erg)

I put in a cheeky HM last Friday [emoji846] I've been working more on the bike-erg & ski-erg for the last few weeks. The shoulder joint is requiring less voltarol now [emoji12][emoji106] Stick with playing around with DF Paul. Even a month is nothing in training terms (at our age) [emoji12] http...

I really do hate rest days. I know I need too but. Working on my Ski-erg technique isn't rest is it 😂😂 or a CTC 😋

Re: Strength training(on and off the erg)

Thanks Lesley. I understand the offset RDL now 👍 I have never found front squat comfortable !! Arthritis in my hand doesn't help now either 😳 I cant see any reference to what I call ancillary stuff/core. Russian twist, leg raises, plank/side plank, superman to name a few. I tend to do these 3 times ...
