Re: Music - Covers that are better than the Originals

I think that my all-time favourite has to be "Ken Lee(Without You)" by Valentina Hasan, the original by Mariah Carey - breathed new life into one of the truly most dreadful songs ever made - well worth a watch on YouTube ^O^ ^O^ Paul G Actually, that song was originally recorded by Badfin...

Not sure anyone is going to get my track -

It is “Welcome To The Black Parade” by My Chemical Romance

Wolfie was closest so I think he should pick the next one

Re: Name that tune

No that one wasn’t one of mine - didn’t know that one either - I started listening to some Gordon Lightfoot after Peter chose “Sundown” - a track I know and like but hadn’t heard for many years and didn’t know who performed it

No - it is an American band however - this track was a big hit both sides of the Atlantic in 2006 - the band is probably better known by it's initials(to fans at least :) )

Re: Music - Covers that are better than the Originals

Thank Jill, Dave Always interesting to see people’s music tastes and be introduced to something new I never knew that Wet Wet Wet number wasn’t the original, and am very keen to hear Yngwe Malmsteens take on Carry on My Wayward Son - one of my all time favourites. I really like some of the covers do...

Music - Covers that are better than the Originals

Got to thinking about this this morning while rowing - one of my favourites came up on my MP3 and I played it on repeat 3 times   As a general rule I prefer the original to cover versions but I thought I would make a list of some covers which I think are better than the originals - purely ...

Re: Name that tune

Sorry Paul. I’ve absolutely no idea. You may need to brush up on your EMO credentials :D :D - this song is something of an EMO anthem. "When I was a young boy My father took me into the city To see a marching band He said, "Son, when you grow up Would you be the savior of the broken The b...

OK, so it is not "Yankee Doodle Dandy"!  Having seen the movie of that title on more than one occasion, could you possibly be referring to "Over There" by George M Cohan? Just realised I was replying to the wrong post! #-o Paul, is the song you are quoting from &...

OK - if there are no takers and nobody minds I will put up one for those of us this side of the Atlantic :

My father took me into the city
To see a marching band"

- Unfortunately not Jill - not that euphemistic. The vocalist was at the forefront of "electro-pop" for a while - they were also on the soundtrack of "Risky Business", if that's any help. Thank you Paul - I can only think of ( because I saw the film ) something by Tangerine Drea...

Hi Mat, I think your consultant's advice is spot on - delay the inevitable for as long as possible - that unfortunately means that ultra-marathon and trail running are no-no's. I did quite a bit of ultra-marathon running in my twenties, but stopped before I did any lasting damage. Running down 30% g...

Yes, Good effort Lesley - I am in the same boat as you(figuratively) in that I have the frustration of not being able to get anywhere near what I used to do because of medical issues. I had my one and only go at this one, adopting a very cautious approach, avoiding the high DF, high SPM effort that ...
