Re: 2014 weight loss thread

Having said that...very happy to be back on the metre board and inching my way up it.

Re: Weight loss training program

Agree with most o this, particularly the last few posts. Like Paul I am a classic yoyo dieter and my major downfall has been to not cut enough booze out of my diet. At the moment I am trying to complete long slow 10k pieces most days (5-6 a week) plus three intense circuit training sessions a week a...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

2x 5k today.

Set off on first 5k with intention of trying to go sub 21 for first time in ages.

Felt good at halfway so decided to attempt for sub 20.

Came in in 19:57.4.

:D

V v happy with that.

Second 5k was 22.09.2.

It feels great to be erging properly again.

Re: 2014 weight loss thread

Dropped almost 3kgs this week. Unusual to have such a steep weight loss when I've already been losing weight, but I must be doing something right. Tricky bit will be to see if it stays off next week. Paul V Date_________Mass (KG)_______Weekly change_______Total change 31/12/13______108.6_...

It's been a while

Quick post to say hello from a (sometime) fellow erger and former Free Sprits forum regular. A belated Happy New Year to you all. I am back in the saddle for 2014 trying to shift some serious beef (70lb over the course of the year) and I reckon the erg is going to be a key plank of my training routi...

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread

And yes Paul I would love to compete. If I could start to think about going for a 2k PB later in the year that would be great.

First things first though. I want that 5m metre certificate.

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread

if you don't mind me saying so, neither of you looks to be 5 stone overweight. You really are too kind Paul but you can't have been looking too closely at the photos!! i am (was!) 21 stone man. That is way way overweight. According to the BMI charts (not a valid measure always, granted,) I should b...

Re: 2011 Weight Loss Thread

It has been a long long time since I posted on the FS thread but yet again, like all of you, I am doing my best to stay fit in 2011. The erg is going to be a key plank of my weight loss in 2011 and all my metres will be added to the FS tally. My mate and I are doing things a little bit dffirently th...

In the meantime....off to try and pull back in Nordin and cut Tom Archer's lead.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

15k in one long slow session.

strapless - resistence set to 10.

1hr 5mins 41.9 secs

felt lovely throughout apart from a tiny niggle in the lfet forearm at the catch.

May even think about another 10 to 15k tonight!

Re: Meter board banter

2 30k's back to back? Can't match that.

If i do another 10k in my lunch hour ( on top of the 16k at brekkie) you'll be still within toughing distance.

However i get the feeling you are probably in the middle of yet another 30k as we speak. ^O^

Some cracking metres from Craig McFarlane. He's done an HM every day for the last fortnight or so.

Re: Meter board banter

I myself along with Chris and Tom Archer agreed to up the ante , so to speak and post some serious distance for the WRC. We are aiming to complete a 3 man relay 24 hour row in which we hope to row 320,000 m plus Tom :D \ whaaaaat? Now that just isn't fair. How am i meant to keep track of Archer wit...

Re: Meter board banter

On a more positive note...Tom Archer is, as we say in Scotland, doing my dinger!!!

I thought my 10k this morning would put some distance between us.

Even after i've posted he''s still 3k in front.

Well done. Now i need to do another 10k.

couple of big rows from Tom Archer again. He may not even be aware of it, but he is dragging me up this metre board in great fashion! Now ploughing up towards 150th. Pretty happy with that given i was down in c.300th before i started this late season burst - (come to think of it, maybe that's an inn...
