Sorry for being a no-show - asthma has been playing up, so no exercise for a while. Hopefully be on top of it soon.

Well done to all those taking part in support of such a worthy lady and important cause!

I like that Jill. It's respectful and dignified. This is a terrible disease (my aunt is suffering too); those suffering should be given dignity at all times, even if they are unaware.

Yum - tea and biccies! :D Or perhaps a slice of cake? Choices, choices...

At least there's no pressure now (not that I was feeling too much anyways!!!)

 I'm so glad to welcome the new girls - It was getting a bit silly that my time (middle aged, unfit, asthmatic) was keeping me in boat 1! The new faster times are much more in keeping with the rest of the crews in B1 and B2.

Thanks for the work you put in Thomas! Donation made just now. I was thinking that I would definitely benefit from a nudge, but then I thought I could always use a diary/phone prompt.   I've put it in my diary now!

Got a baseline attempt in on 1/7, and let my legs recover (oh boy, have my legs felt heavy all week!) for a second go this morning. Took a load of inhaler, had a decent breakfast, then could prevaricate no more. I needed to get into the garage and onto the rower before the sun turned it into an oven...

So glad I didn't know you were doing that, Erik! (I am a bit of a worrier  ) But glad that you've done it. Bet it feels good to have overcome a few psychological demons so soon! :)

Wow. You're not one to do things by halves, Erik. Slow and steady wins the race now, and the confidence to do the things you love will return gradually. Having the ICD should definitely be a reassuring factor. Know we are thinking of you!

Re: June ctc - 10k, no stroke rate restrictions

My 10k on 3/6/18 was the fastest in three years. Mainly, I think, because it's not a natural choice of distance for me, so I don't have too many to compare with! It's a long way... I was happy to be in boat 2, but then... there was that niggling feeling of "Well, the last split was a lot faster...

Re: 2017/18 Summary and Aspirations for 2018/19

So. I did 407k this year. Doesn't seem a lot by the regulars' standards, but I have also done a fair bit of indoor skiing, a bit of snowboarding, walking, the odd bike ride, etc. A cruise. Couple of ski weeks. A few long weekends away involving longer walks. Hoping to be a bit more consistent with t...

Re: Training towards a 6:20 2k

Being given a diagnosis can be a double edged sword - good to know, but as you say it can take a while to process and come to terms with the implications. At least with a diagnosis you can start to move forward, and information can be gathered and applied. It sounds like the doctors are on the case,...

Re: The January CTC

Made a slight improvement to my CTC score today. I rowed on the gym machine, with a PM3 monitor. There is a discrepancy between the total metres rowed in each of the four minutes - they total 3749, but they have been rounded up on the monitor to 3751. Also the monitor says 2:07.9, but the CTC board ...
