Re: Nonathlon 2019
Hi guys - long time no post as I have been suffering with "wrist"itis and a touch of lazybones Just posting to warn you that I got a spam email (not very hostile but defintely phishing). This was to the email address I only use (and have only ever used) to register for the nonathlon. No do...

Re: November CTC: 4 x 750m (3r)
Thank you for the quote! - thinking again maybe it should be
4x750m(3'r) - so few characters needed to type - so much character needed to deliver!
I am going to try mine next time I am in the gym - not a piece to do alone in the garage!!
I agree 4x1k(5'r) is similar but probably worse

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
And me, a bit stuck, lost a little, but now (28/10/2017) 106.7.
Still, 2nd in the office weight loss league (quarterly) - with the leader notorious for loading up on water before the weigh in and then not doing much, so I have hopes if I can just maintain a downward trajectory

Can I join in, or am I already there? lifetime meters from C2Log from 2006/7 season and onwards - 2,688,998 as of today, so a nice target for the rest of the season
Thanks

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
So Free Spirits haven't apparently been doing any training for the last month - I don't believe that for a minute. I am getting back into it again (again), but still favoring a wrist ache so going quite slow so todays was 6 x 3517m w35s rest (just enough to towel down, drink, jiggle about, and get r...

Re: Maximum Heart Rate
Sounds like a 30 minutes you might want a cardiac team in attendance for. What I would be really interested in is how risky are doing these MHR tests, as in can they trigger any harmful affects either there or then, or later. By the forumla my MHR should be 165 but my last 2K test posted higher (172...

Re: 2017 Weight Loss Thread
Well done all. Respect. My first post in a while, as things have been very much in the wrong direction and not at all zoot or Thomas like. I got down to 99kg just about a year ago, and then I had to stop rowing with a sore wrist, and had to work away couple of nights a week which didn't help. So I a...

Thanks guys
I never had it before either and I've done a lot of rowing - don't know where it came from
Will just give myself a couple of weeks off being really careful and try the exercises

Re: Injuries.....:(
Reporting in with tendonitis of the wrist which just wont go away. I have been off the erg for a month, but I keep doing other stuff like gardening and typing that aggravates it. The Dr recommended some stretch exercises and unrecommended strapping etc. Has anyone had any experience of things that h...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread
Hey Zoot Company would be good. Not feeling that positive at the momentas I have had a few weeks off owing to a. I hurt my wrist and then aggravated it pulling a 1k, so need to focus on longer slower to reduce risk of reoccurrence b. my get up and go (mojo) got up and went, as well as a separate res...

Re: Missing mojo
Hi This is a screenshot of a simple dashboard which copies my times from the details sheet (below) and then using the 5s per double distance calculates how far my piece is off from my theoretical best. On the right I keep a simple log of when I have done the pieces - I try and do these chronological...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread
Well done Mark! Getting below 100kg is a significant benchmark (I should know - I'm rapidly approaching it from the other direction!). At 6'3", 200lbs is quite a challenging target. It's a BMI of 25% and I know this is supposed to be a cut off point for not being considered overweight, but it'...

Re: Missing mojo
Paul I am normally a bit organised, in that I have a Pete plan spreadsheet and aim to get through those, and I have rejoined the CTC which I wanted to do again as my only effort was HR limited, and I have "enriched" the PP with a number of longer rows. So I normally have pre decided my wor...

Re: 2016 weight loss thread
Been off the erg with a sore wrist for a fortnight, so weight loss has stopped. Fortunately I have been able to do enough walking, and my partner has done enough lovely slimming world recipes, that I have kept steady since the middle of the month, during which I got under 100Kg for the first time in...

Re: The Pete Plan
Thank you. Its one of those things, I had decided to only update my signature every PP cycle (ie about every 2 of months), and then I go and do something I would be quite pleased to brag (a little) about.
I will probably update soon, but I want to get a 1K, 10K and maybe a 6K in the bag first

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
very nice Plummy - good strong finish. Think you may have a few gains to make as you sharpen up and get re-used to the higher ratings for shorter pieces. I found keeping my feet completely flat and rowing slightly shorter at the catch worked very well. This may be I am too long when doing slower rat...

Re: The Pete Plan
Thanks Greg Well I am back a bit earlier than planned, as I like to start each PP cycle with a 5K test (with another in the middle and a 2K at the end). I wasn't going to report until the middle test I had done quite a long warm and was pondering what pace to go my 2K from Friday suggested 2:02, so ...

2K Time trial - there a innocuous sounding phrase
0500m - 1:56.3
1000m - 1:57.5
1500m - 1:57.2
2000m - 1:52.7
Total - 7:43.7 / 1:55.9
Now to redo all my favorite interval sessions. Will check in again half way through the cycle with a 5K test - hoping for 20:00

Re: 2016 weight loss thread
Welcome Ian.
My experience - the longer I row the more I lose at lower heart rate, ie sweaty but not panting.
Also the less I snack after a row, the more I lose!!
Pretty basic really, but in the real world oh so complicated!!

Re: July ctc - 3 X 2813m intervals with 4 mins rest between reps. Slowest counts
Had a go at this today - just after Paul - so missed the first boat I guess. Not quite the spirit, but I made this into a HR 140 (UT2/UT1 border) capped session. I was pleased with timing as left just enough headroom in interval 1 to just squeeze under on the last one. My timing was 10k (unrestricte...

Did 13444 in 1:00:00, and updated a 10K score on the way. Giving me some extra points. Still HR Limited for the longer distances, so some upside when I move up training bands

But promised myself a long row today so ought to stick to the plan
