Re: LADIES banter/training/motivation thread ??

Hi All, Yes, I am back rowing again. Last year wasn't one of the best ones of my life. However, things are working themselves out and I'm in a better place now. My erg was in storage for about 8 months (and unused for 3 months before that). I unpacked and set up my erg on Dec. 3rd. I was disappointe...

Re: LADIES banter/training/motivation thread ??

Last year, Rita set up on the ELM, a Tour du France row. It certainly helped me to do my meters as the bike riders did theirs. We rowed 1/10 of their daily meters. That took care of rowing incentive for July. I hope to set this up this challenge really soon on the ELM. I made my 14 million lifetime...

Re: July CTC - 8x500m rest 3' -- VOTE to add to our ELM league?

I think the correct name for the group that picked July's challenge is "The Sub7 Sadists"! I probably could have gone with a 2 minute rest period and would have been pleased to have this interval session end 7 minutes sooner. My average was 2:07.7 with a low time of 2:06.2 at interv...

I was planning on doing a FM today, but things came up in the last month and forced a change of plans. I'm on slow (~ 2:35/500m, compared to my good steady pace of ~ 2:20) rows for awhile and for about 30 minutes at a clip. :-({|= However, I did get in 5 x ~ 6300 meter sessions for 31,000+ tow...

For me: a sub8 2K 5K under 21 min a HM under 1 hr 35 min a FM under 3 hr 20 min (probably will have to wait til spring) I do not get too obsessive about them. I only try for PBs for the times/distances listed on the C2 ranking site about once every 3 months or so. I like to see "chunks" of...

Happy birthday Tina. As long as you have a C2 on-line log book you are "registered" for the holiday challenge. You do not need to pre-select which category (100K or 200K). Just rack up those meters and when you reach those points you will be able to download the certificate, iron-on transf...

Well done to everyone who participated. I think it is all great that you went out there and gave it your best, and from the sound of it, almost everyone acheived a PB. Kudos!

Sub 8 is a great milestone Rita, and Sylvia had to work just as hard to pass that as others did to pass 7 for the first time (Well done Sylvia) - its all relative. You are not that far from the "holy grail" yourself Rita - are you going to try again (I know you much prefer the longer dist...

Sub8 doesn't quite have the same ring to it as sub7. I think we need to come up with something better, anyone?

Some very nice times being posted and congrats to everyone who gave this one a go.

Good luck to all our BIRC competitors!! Make sure you go through the checklist before your race: 1) check the drag factor on your erg 2) check that the monitor is on your desired display screen (units, split times etc) 3) located the nearest bucket, keeping in mind that the nearest bucket maybe behi...

I too have noticed Bob's distances and I'm jealous that he can devote 3+ hr to rowing each day. I would also probably row the extra 10-15 minutes/~ 3,000 K to make it a series of Full Marathons . Yes, this is coming from the person who is chasing Tom B on the multitudes of HM's on the ELM e...

Given that I took 2 days off from rowing, there probably wasn't a better time to give this a try, I'm "rested" and "edgy" from not rowing yesterday. I did a 3k warm-up and then went at it with a goal of trying to keep a 2:00 split (2:00 would be easy to recognize even when my bra...

JR, I'm sorry to hear about your friend and you injury woes. Try to keep your chin up, and take it day-to-day.

Robin... Happy cruising. I am jealous. I hope you have a very relaxing time.

Ann, bummer about the flu shot reaction. I hope you are feeling better.

And for those in the US, what better way to start off a weekend of Thanksgiving feasting than by rowing a full (or half) marathon? If you start out during the pre-game show of the 12:30 football game (i.e. noon), and row ~ 2:25 pace you will finish a FM before the game ends and will have burned ~ 25...

I tried to eke out another meter or 2 out of this tonight, but no luck... 1023m, thus the 1024 m trial from a few weeks ago stands. Oh well. I guess on Sunday you can kick back and relax and watch some American football. I probably won't be a good game (the Dolphins are horrible) but the Giants are fun (but then again, I'm biased).
