I forgot to enter mine, but it was only a 2:06.7 / 5:55.2 so no great loss....

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Thought I'd share this Epic fail with you, as many of you will appreciate it. Was planning a 2:07 HM a couple of days back, but on starting, I found myself splitting lower, so ended up targeting 2:05. Got near the end, and progressively opened up a bit more, before doing a reasonably fast sprint fin...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Worked out that I can notch another PB - Fastest million meters (for me) 41 days - 26th Dec to 3rd Feb 90k + 830k + 80k
Then down to 40 - 28th Dec to 5th Feb
If I can keep going, I think it will come down to 38.

Re: January Revolutions Challenge - 2024
Not sure that I _enjoyed_ the January Revolutions this year, but it certainly kept me busy: 47,180 Calories, 830,000m (new monthly PB b7 180k!), minimum 21,097m per day.
How did everyone else get on?

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge
Well deep respect to you both. I didn't even make 50k at 2:24 today. And the idea of doing 50k @ 2:12 pace.... ERK! I did my FM at 2:16 the other day, and maybe could have found another 7805m on a good day, but you never know unless you actually do it. I don't know how you keep comfortable - it's th...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
My first ever C2 'official' 50k today. (All the previous ones I did were recorded as an FM, plus the extra 7805m, as 50k wasn't a thing back then). And first 50k session since 2006 (I think, might need to check). Wasn't enjoyable, even with all the distance conditioning and doing it at a very slow p...

Re: January Revolutions Challenge - 2024
I've managed to pass double the Big Burn target now... Congratulations! You made The Big Burn and rowed, skied or rode for 44,096 Calories in January! Seriously, I have no idea how anyone does 30k+ every single day. If nothing else, the time taken is quite extreme. And there's no way my joints would...

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge
Here's a question, plummy - what sort of pacing and strategy did you use for doing the extreme distances? I slogged through a 50k today, with target pace of 2:24 (which I'd always have considered very slow and supposedly easy, although it is less so since getting older), and even then had to stop fo...

AH, thanks. Looks like it needs the extra page level URL detail. That longer URL also works for me. (Not that I'm actually considering doing the CTC right now, but hey...)

Now completed the CCB in January with the final HM today. Thanks for all the support from everyone - it definitely helped!
A good side effect is that it has definitely removed a little of the Christmas fat too, although still much work to do...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Plummy - I am never expecting to match yours, as you did the insane 1 million meters continuous.
Doing something like CCB makes me _very_ aware how it is still a fraction of what you did - very well done, sir!
PS - Hope you're feeling better?

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
I do NOT get onto this thread very often, but I have managed to 'PB' probably the only one I have any chance of these days... Most distance in a month - previously 650k in Jan 2022 - currently on a tiny amount under 700k, and January not over yet... Has taken me from position 104 on the Meterboard t...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Improvement on my FM time with a 2:15.6 / 3:10:49.4 today.
Just noticed that this was 2.6s slower than my first ever FM, back in 2001.
And very close to my recent best of 3:09:15.0 from 2022..
(Ho hum, will probably have to do another one sometime soon now I've noticed that)

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge
After an early morning FM today, I've technically completed the CCB (30 HMs done as 26 HMs and 2 FMs on continuous days) if I count from the one I did 31/12. I'm definitely doing another HM tomorrow, so I will then have the CCB done using only days in January. Question is, what next? Should I keep g...

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge
I terms of doing them all in January, I did 26th today, so I'm on 27 done (as a consequence of a sneaky FM on the 11th) - 3 to go. (I did one on the 31/12 too, so I'm on 28 back-to-back) Thank you for asking, Jon! And I just realised I have got about the only PB I can see myself managing these days ...

I'm still going - not particularly quick, but I'm on 26/30 HMs now in Jan (and 27 if I counted the one I did on Dec 31st)
Well done to ALL of the Free Spirits who are putting in the distances/time - there are some amazing performances!

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge
Still slogging away. Generally the body is holding out, but the concern is that you're always just one bad stroke away from an injury, so you have to try to concentrate on decent form, even when you're tired. You get the odd sudden pain, and are thinking 'I hope it doesn't do that again next stroke'...

Not as bad on Sat - was very careful about form to protect the left wrist, and knee was just not as sore.
Sun even went for a 2:07
Today was OK and no real issues.
Keeping on going...

Re: Crazy Bear Challenge
First proper signs of concern today - left wrist and left knee are both getting sore. Left wrist is a consequence of a very slight tendency to twist my wrist rather than keeping it perfectly straight, and over the ~500k so far, this is starting to cause some pain. Left knee is probably just wear and...
