Happy to add in if we can make a second team, but looks unlikely.

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Ian, nicely done. Its easy to rate up when you don't need to breathe and are hardly moving your legs and with low DF! I have rated in high 70s for 100m at 150DF, but the problem is that I risk coming off the seat!

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Ian & Spider, putting me to shame! 2 weeks of no rowing so had to do the CTC. 3 days of attempts (but Monday's was only 1 attempt cut in 300m as feeling very sluggish). Today 3 attempts, first 2 1800m together. Then: Time Distnc Rate Pace Hrmax(%) Hrmin(%) - Comment 00:20.4 100 44 01:42.0 154(82...

Re: Any experiences with Hip Replacement / Osteo-arthritis?

HI Mat, sorry to hear of your continuing issues. My OA has remained in check from being very careful on offending activities after it was diagnosed after doing the 3 peaks. I found kneeling down at the gym to put on the C-breeze did more damage than a 90 min erg! 3.5MM last year and no deterioration...

2 boats on the water already! Well done to all those who have done it. Do we know who is entered as "Chicken King"? Seriously quick addition, if you are reading this, thanks for your contribution.

Not on the C2 Forum! but looks like a repeat of the Mercian New Year Pyramid! Remember not liking it then! Well done Carole, with only 11 heavy men last month you were unlucky to be left on the bank as all the regular ladies obliged! great early start! Will leave it a few weeks to get my rating more...

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Well done getting a session in after moving when most of us would be having a beer! Actually did a PP session today! Having struggled to hold R23 for 5k and fading to R21 in the 10k need to rate up, so what's better than the 8x500? ot sure on the pace, picked 1:57 as starting target with a hope of a...

=D> =D> Amazing effort from the ladies and skinnies, but we seem to have lost the participation of some of our larger men now. Anyway, great effort to get 5 boats floated on one of the toughest CTCs.

Used the cooler evening to finish Rowlympics. 10k followed by 20'. 10k I intended to start at 2:09 R23 and see how it went. Re: The Pete Plan etc

Impressive to hold the split on a 20R30! And HR not drifting much either ^O^ . What I meant was that I think MC recommended a 180 average to start L4s with a 4 strokes increase at a time (ie 2/3 of a stroke per 10' segment for 60' L4s). So as you are up at 185.3, that is quite high (the higher ratin...

Re: July CTC - 5k/2k 7min rest, 1 at 20SPM

When you think many people do regular 30R20s, 5k R20 is a breeze. Always gets tough around 5min in, but unlike free rate the rate at which it deteriorates after that is much slower. Somehow can maintain 95%+ HR longer at R20 than free rate. Possibly because I have more to concentrate on (I try and p...

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Well done on L4, you are way up the ratings suggested. Have you thought about uping your reference pace and reducing the ratings to give a contrast to the 30R20s? Must get on to try and find time for the 10k to finish the Rowlympics. Won't be fast, may not even beat my SB that was the first half of ...

Re: July CTC - 5k/2k 7min rest, 1 at 20SPM

Excellent row Chris. I did the 5k restricted on a failed attempt merely because I had a better chance of finishing it and wanted to change it after multiple failures! Your 2k R20 is really impressive. Thanks for beating the heavies to leave me in boat 3 (for now!)

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Great rowing in the heat. Rowed yesterday and had another 3 failures at CTC yesterday, but got times for the 30' during a too fast warm up (not plan and probable reason for failures), Only 7025m at R21 ('though currently an SB), but start of rowlympics, salvaged 2k & 1k from failures, finished w...

Re: Rowlympic Challenge

Well done those earlier finishers, very impressive. I have failed doing in 2 days so will try and fit in a session mid-week for the 10k & 20' that remain. Did try and do CTC at the same time and this took many goes that were not the right distances for all of the events. Have a 20' time, but ver...

Re: JLL R200 - Some advice, please!

Hi Grant. I'm also not familiar with your machine. The C2 drives a fan where the resistance is proportional to the cube of the speed of the fan. As a result, making the fan go faster generates more power that is recorded as a faster pace. Some machines have a direct resistance to the movement that i...

Re: Strength training(on and off the erg)

Iain, I have done the Round Island cycle route which, other than about 10-12km of the northern section, is quite different from the walking route. I am quite keen to get in a bit of cycling, and want to start swimming again for a bit of variety. I don't recommend a round island swim to complete the...

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Thanks Spider, At the moment I don't see me doing these to strict WP protocol. If I do any rate restricted pieces I will make up nearer to the mark (although might try the 180^ just at what feels like a comfortable pace rather than the WP targets (especially given I am uncertain on my 2k pace at pre...

Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately I do so few sessions I have little choice, especially if don't do 2 hard sessions in a row (that I have found is a recipe for disaster at the moment). Good for the mental strength! Spider, I admire you doing L4s in this heat. I had a really sweaty 60 min UT2 (ish...

Re: Strength training(on and off the erg)

Total insanity to even start it this weekend, but that is what we have come to expect from you! I'm sure will be fine when the weather breaks! Why didn't you do it on your bike (path amended for any uncyclable obstacles/ paths)? Well done on the day you did manage. I hope your feet recover well.
