Re: December ctc - 15 christmas crackers

Well did it, but Ian beat me to it so only a very temporary heavy seat in Boat 1. Nasty challenge, but after the 2 failed attempts above I was mentally prepared to give it a go. I believe that in these limited rest interval sessions you need to make use of the rests, so went for it on the 1' and a ...

Re: December ctc - 15 christmas crackers

I think we now have 7 ladies, 8 heavy men and 4 lightweight men, so ideally we could do with 16 more men including at least 3 lightweights. Congratulations to the ladies, I hope to have my 3rd attempt tomorrow!

Excellent session Spider, 45' at that Work per stroke looks impressive to me! Best of luck with remaining Chemo.

Spider great to hear that you are through your treatments, I am incredibly impressed that yoyu have managed to train right through and maintain your SS pace =D> ^O^ =D> . Mat, that is an impressive 3 x 6', especially as one of 2, hope the rest of your Hyrox training is going so well. Aren ...

Well done Tako. Impressive to finish a 500 with a significantly quicker last 100, were you aware of overtaking Clive?

I would expect 98%+ of Max at the end of a 30' finished at a full sprint, must have been slacking!

Re: The Pete Plan etc

After failed CTC attempt, extended the 5' done to prove I could first to 10' then to 6k and finally to a significant 30' SB, 18 nonathlon points (as faster than 6k pace as well). Clearly not most efficient way to do this, but more than happy to beat 7200 that I had in mind as my first post Jan ...

Re: December ctc - 15 christmas crackers

Annoyed at second failure on this, started with very similar stats despite trying to ease off a bit, not sure what my HR was doing in 1', I did over 4k warm up hitting the 1' pace, although not quite up to threshold HR rates. Got through the 4' that I had mentally prepared for, hoping to fight ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Spider, good consistent training. Claudius, great to see you posting again and training regularly. Can't say I know about cycling paces, but a good long session! Ian, good to see low HR at higher pace Mat, great improvement on a tough session. Aren, impressive recovery, illness not done you much ...

Re: November 1k CTC

It might also be that your body worked hard to throw off the initial illness and so your heart had to work harder "at rest" and, perhaps more importantly, didn't get a chance to drop to recuperative levels. This would then show as fatigue afterwards perhaps compounded as you say by your early ...

Re: November 1k CTC

Well done ARen for finishing. I don't mind that you hammered my time while stopping for a cup of tea in the 4th interval  impressive pace for the other 4 intervals. I realised weeks ago that I will be fighting for LW seat in 3rd (or 4th where Spider takes part) boats at best once you managed to ...

Re: December ctc - 15 christmas crackers

Please note that the C2 Forum says all reps are from a standing start, even if there is cynicism that it will be obeyed. Had a failed attempt at this, as suspected it is not nice and tough to know how to pace the early reps. Bailed after 3' having lost confidence halfway through this interval with ...

Great effort from everyone to now have 7 boats floated! Great row Ian, it was only a matter of time before you beat the last PB I had over you! Spider, never happier to be dropped down a boat, impressive sprint that i couldn't produce. I am still in august company in Boat 3, I need to enjoy it as I ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Impressive session Ian, amazed how quickly your HR recovers in the FM paced sections, significant increase in pace as well! I decided on the spur to do a 60R20 this morning as felt quite fresh despite Wednesday's session. Struggle at times, but will make the distances this weekend on tired legs so ...

Re: November 1k CTC

Felton, well done to get through that without blowing up given that you positively split all intervals despite modestly rating up. Must say a huge thank you to all our ladies for a turn out that has now launched 6 boats with only one man left on the bank at the moment! =D> ^O^ =D>

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks Ian, strangely never felt stretched in 30' and surprised at the pace, no signs I had done he power strokes beforehand, although after tomorrow's day off, I expect I will feel it on Friday! Significant increase in pace on your session at generally lower HR, especially the faster interval and ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

After day off yesterday unsure whether to do a 30' TT or a strength session, ended up unexpectedly doing both. 12 x 30S r1' @ R24 with DF 155 was session I decided on. Last time 1:49.5. Did >4k warm up. Then after these sessions start fast on what progresses into my CD. But kept going longer than ...

If that had been distributed 4'; 8'; 12' with 2'+ rest between, I would actually have preferred it as a clear "long interval" session close to 5k pace! Even more so if done the other way around which I would quite have welcomed!

NIcely done Spider, especially after recent H/Ds, really good neg split and spot on ratings too. 20SpM not that easy, was quicker than your usual 30R20.

Re: December ctc - 15 christmas crackers

Nasty! Don't like increasing intervals and 75S rest will pass in a flash. Not sure I am brave enough to capitalise on the potentially faster first 2 intervals given what is to come, so not expecting that I will be much faster than 5k pace (given Pete reckons 6 x 1k r1' is about 5k pace). That 5 ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Ian, after 9' 5k pace, 6' FM and part of 4' recovery, I would have expected that you were warmed up for the latter intervals! Re above, I did put 40k in inverted commas! With the warm up >FM distance, also on tired legs. Afterwards had vicious PEMS in diaphragm. Also struggled for only 3rd time ...
