Feb CTC 300m "To encourage the kids"
The Gee Crew's challenge for February is 300 metres with normal rules applying. Tommy is keen to get more youngsters involved in indoor rowing and would like the title of the challenge to be 'Encourage The Kids'.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Well done Ian, truly impressive improvements without concentrating on those distances
^O^ =D> ^O^ .
My training has been slower. I do 1-2 faster sessions a week, 1 around 5k pace with some very short (10-12 stroke / interval) "strength" high DF/SPI sessions, CTCs and prep for these. No PBs for me ...

Thanks Spider, will dig out some sand paper. Great HM, 0.7S improvement on last year is a result! Nearly as fast as my SB for 10k!

Hi Cameron, that is a good HM, quicker than my PB!

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Impressive PG. I find that really long sessions take days trio recover from even if done at a slow pace. The rowerg plans no longer include incremental increases in long rows although mentally it is useful to have done a significant portion of your target distance before attempting it to delay the ...

Welcome to FS Cameron.
There is no one plan for C2 training. To help us respond, please would you let us know:
What are your objectives from your training?
What timescale do you have in mind for these objectives?
What other training do you do?
What rowing (on the water or erg) have you done ...

Re: Concept2 Articles on Damper and Drag Settings
For me, I like to 'stand' on the footplate during the drive phase of the stroke, and feel that squeeze/surge as you accelerate the flywheel. For this, it makes sense to have a bit more drag, so that the flywheel slows down, so you have something to push against and can accelerate it again.

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
That's a good session PD and impressive pacing to reduce by exactly 1S/interval =D> . For me Hr SB-7S/500M for 6 min would involve quite some stress! I don't do many sessions with significant neg split required, so for me the change up always feels harder than maintaining the pace of the last one ...

Hope it goes well Spider. Interested as you were neg splitting. For longer TTs I usually slow a bit in middle before picking it up.

Re: Concept2 Articles on Damper and Drag Settings
Interesting, I notice even 5 DF difference significantly altrough can adapt. i also feel that higher drag puts more load on upper body (incl arms) and less on legs due to longer time to get handle to speed. Also higher ratings make drag "feel" lower to me.

Re: Winter Madness
On fueling I found on 24 tandem that the biggest issue was finding calories that I was prepared to eat and so did almost entirely on liquids. Very different on tandem to solo as there are significant periods to absorb food and average usage lower due to the long rests. However no idea the balance of ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
I am fascinated with the varying approaches of the final buildup into the ultra ergs. I've seen some formats like 2-4 weeks of daily half marathons leading in, or 4-7 days of 42k-50k leading in, and once even a 150k via a 6x25k workout just 2 weeks before a 24 hour (277k). I'm in awe of the mental ...

Ian, good to see what you have been up to. Great training out of the huge number of metres you have been doing

Really enjoying following along with the training going on in here as I build up my own. So much great progress to be seen here. Iain's 12x5k is quite inspiring as I hopefully build toward similar for myself! Keep it up, everyone!

Sorry Peter, will blame sweat on my glasses for not noticing!
I assume people will need to select the team when they enter their result, so would be useful if they have an indication of what categories are likely to float boats. Not relevant to me, but for cycles, will distances be doubled? If not ...
