Ian, just looked back and you have done 234km (13%) more than me in the 4 months we have been training for this million ^O^ =D> ^O^

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Spider, huge improvement, also good to see that you felt more comfortable as you sprinted despite higher HR =D>

Ian, good to see what you have been up to. Great training out of the huge number of metres you have been doing =D>

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Really enjoying following along with the training going on in here as I build up my own. So much great progress to be seen here. Iain's 12x5k is quite inspiring as I hopefully build toward similar for myself! Keep it up, everyone!

Good to hear from you and look forward to seeing your training ...

Great to hear from you again Stan. Re Mike's comments, I found after my longest break that 2k was all I could manage (I think despite pushing at the end about 9:35!)

Re: Additions to the ctc site

Sorry Peter, will blame sweat on my glasses for not noticing!

I assume people will need to select the team when they enter their result, so would be useful if they have an indication of what categories are likely to float boats. Not relevant to me, but for cycles, will distances be doubled? If not ...

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Well the opposite today. Expected to be doing a grey session (probably "strength" this morning, but stiffness I have had since the 5-1k dissipated this morning so did the 5 x 1.5k. Always struggle to get this in before work, so did without warm up. I know it isn't clever and fully expected to take ...

Re: Jan 2025 CTC - The RLR New Year 5k Sprint

Plummy, we can only work on where we are. I remember being disappointed at not being sub 19:30, but despite being fitter than I have been for some time, I don't think I have a sub 20 in me. So when are you going sub 22?

Thanks Claire for floating boat 3' 3 more including 2 ladies for 2 more boats.

Re: Additions to the ctc site

Sounds good Jon. Personally I think there should be an "all ergs" category, but realise that that train has gone! Also for FS, is it worth a survey of use of other machines? I suspect that we will struggle to get a skierg, dynamic or slides boat out, due to the latter, maybe just enter "Other erg ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Real struggle to get up this morning and feeling very sluggish despite 2 days off, so revised threshold session down to an hour UT1:

Time Distnc Rate Pace Hrmax % HRmin %
20:00 4,451 19 02:14.8 148 80.4% 065 35.3%
20:00 4,451 19 02:14.8 153 83.2% 145 78.8%

Re: The Pete Plan etc

Thanks Spider. Actually really up for the work out, just assailed by those damned demons. Yours was a great session. I would say that you could substantially beat 20' on CTC. Only 4.7S/500 slower than 750s is impressive for 2ks ^O^ . I was 1SW/500M quicker than Waterfall which is only slightly ...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

Thanks Dave.

Mike, very aware, but my HR does not follow the standard. My HR hits 135 at 2:45 pace, a pace where I struggle to keep a good stroke and so do as much harm as good. Worked up to the 2 hours. ALso due to comuting I rarely do more than 5 days rowing a week, so regular days with just a ...

Re: Winter Madness

Training all logged (had to do extra day in office, so 2 days off for me after a tough 5-1k session on PP thread. The trouble is that the event is so different from anything that can be practiced. If I had had >6 months, might have scheduled the dreaded 100k for a challenge of my resilience, but ...

Re: Concept2 Articles on Damper and Drag Settings

Tumbleweed!

I have usually rowed between 115 & 120 being a weak lightweight. I only increase for sub 500m, but reduce to 105 for FM or longer TTs as I find the largest issue for these is usually leg muscle tiredness so increasing the rating and loading CV a little more that happens on lower DF ...

Re: Nonathlon 2024/5

The teams feature just lets me see the FS people I compare myself against without having to pick through the longer list. As it is ranked on total points, people who have only completed some of the events don't get ranked in a useful order to compare those with similar times.

Impressed that you managed both Spider.

Did 5kr4',4kr4',3kr3',2kr2', 1k Part of Pete's 1Hr plan where the intention is to speed up by 1S on each interval. Pleased that I went through with this as I felt sluggish in warm up despite 21' of it and got hard earlier than previously. Intention was to start about 2:09 pace with previous attempt ...
