Re: Lifetime Millionaires Club

Well done Chris - top effort on the 4MM!! Note to Nick Shuker - there should be a race at Newark later this year (1 mile - 1609m). A Grand Prix series was created last year so that Evesham, Grimsby and Newark all counted towards an overall prize for racing at all three events aswell as the individu...

Sorry Bangars, my daughter has got a very important dancing exam in Blackpool on the same day as Newark, Ive tried everything to get out of going, but it will break her heart if Im not there to watch her. So, BIRC is the next comp for me. Good luck to you both, I will be thinking of you. Nick

JR, I think you are going to have to shock your body with a change to long rows to lose some weight. Try shorter harder rows, say 3-5k hard rowing, rest for 5 mins then another hard 3-5k, then rest, then a longer 10k UT2 row. If you train in the gym ask a trainer to work you out a weight training pro...

Thanks William, I must admit I did feel a little weak when warming up for the race and this scared me a little. When I set off though, I blasted through the first 200 and my race went as planned. I was really pleased with the way things went, and with some hard training Im hoping for a good result a...

Thanks everyone for your great messages. I had to enter the open as I was late, due to build up of traffic after an accident on the motorway, so I missed the 40 plus race. It was only a small event, 6 in each race but great fun and I was pleased to beat guys younger than myself. Next copetition Newa...

Grimsby 2k

Just arrived home from the Grimsby competition.

It was a really well organised, friendly comp, and really worth entering.

It was a pity more of us couldnt attend, but its on next year if anyone fancies it.

OH and by the way I just happened to win the mens open in 6.27.6 :D

Now then Mark, I was thinking to myself a couple of days ago, I will aim to beat your 10k time this year. That is going to be the biggest challange for me after a 2k PB this year. You need to now beat my 5k time. I see a very interesting situation developing here. A friendly competition could push y...

Thanks Wolfie, I remember 2 years ago falling off the erg after going sub 18 for the first time for the 5k. I didnt think it was possible to take 30 secs, never mind 50 off that time, but its amazing what a little dedication to training can achieve. Im sure, in time you will bring those times down, ...

I will add that make sure, even if you have to get a second party to check, that you are rowing the majority of the stroke with straight arms. On the drive, the loose thumbs under and a definate pull from the shoulder plades works for me. I think the newer style handle seems to make you want to bend...

My wife tells me off for dripping eveywhere on my way up to the shower after rowing in the conservitory. I use a C2 seat pad and I usually have both the holes in them full of sweat after a row, plus two dirty spotty lines on the floor under the rail. It takes about 3 liters of water and 4 or 5 trips...
