Re: Hello strangers...

cheers, and if anyone out there has had torn biceps, or have recently torn, would love to hear about it and recovery. Mine was a distal tear, from the elbow end, apparantly the rarer tear, usually goes from the shoulder end.

Re: Decembers CTC penalty challenge...?

to bloody complicated for this old sometimes rowing prop - was looking forward to this months challenge too, as it forces me to have at least one decent rowing session a month, but this one interests me as much as dropping my bollocks in a vice and seeing how hard I can squeeze .... so see y...

Re: November´s CTC: 2x20mins r5

Good work PV - once you've broken a mark I reckon it is easy to do again, or rather, easier.

Like when going for a run and you manage to make it up the 2k hill for the first time - you never fail on it again, as you know you can do it, and if you don't, you are ju8st bludging!

Re: November´s CTC: 2x20mins r5

at last got to complete the row - thanks to a cancelled rugby fitness session that the only person not told that it was cancelled being the trainer... Anyway, first 20 minutes 5331, not feeling too bad, nice hard row without death creeping up on me. Next 20 minutes not quite so easy. First ten no pr...

Re: November´s CTC: 2x20mins r5

I did the first leg post weights this morning (I know, doesn't count, just wanted to see if I could row for 20 minutes, before trying 2 in 45)!! Anyway, did 5296. Sooo, my 4th real row for about 18 months, and pleased to see I have not lost too much rowing fitness. I expect the second 20 will be tou...

Re: November´s CTC: 2x20mins r5

this looks painful, especially as I have rowed 3 times in the last year, 2 x 10 minutes after a weights session, and a sub 7 2k just to see if I still could - 6:59.9 sis sub 7 too, so was happy. Anyway, might give this a 'Sunday session' at the gym, as they have just got 2 brand new machines, a plea...

Re: bodybuilding kills the rowing bug

But boy I miss rowing, but at the same time enjoying this too much - expecially with the results that keep coming in! facebook - think just look up Jason Bartley, and oversize bodybuildin...

Re: bodybuilding kills the rowing bug

well, long time no row, but still doing the bodybuilding thing, and back in athletic division - physique with the big boys is just a roid storm, even here in little ole New Zealand. naturals just can't compete, although did land a second in the Auckland championships in the open men, and a first in ...

Re: I rowed, therefore I am...

yeah, I am looking forward to when I get sick of eating fish and chicken and stop BB and get back into rowing - think I;ll go hard out and get a decent training diet from our trainer when I do, and look up some competitions here in NZ. will row again in a week and see what happens - maybe make it my...

I rowed again, therefore I still am.... still on the bodybuilding pathway, but eating more food at the moment as the next comp is 77 days away or so (not that I am counting), so had a crack at the 2k, and managed a sub 7, but you could not get much closer... 6:59.9! First, did a 500m warm up, hard (...

Re: I rowed, therefore I am...

yeah hewitt it is nuts with weighing food and so on. We're lucky to have a superb trainer so 'all' we have to do it do it, not worry about how much protein, how many carbs etc, as the nike add says, we, 'just do it'!! Don't know how long for though, been 13 months so far, but will be a few years mor...

Re: I rowed, therefore I am...

thanks wolfie, hit a BB where it hurts... But that is where it was at - I just was not lean enough. I'm not going to beat these giants, but I can get leaner than them. The bloke that won weighted in at around 104kg. I went in at 86, third place getter would have been mid to high 90s. IN that photo b...

Re: bodybuilding kills the rowing bug

Quick update as we head into the new season (I know you have been waiting with baited breath  ). Anyway, have not sat on my rower at all, I think I have fallen off that wagon big time, and even less likely of being allowed to row by my trainer now. Now am officially too big to be 'athletic', an...
