Re: New ctc site
Yeah I saw yesterday we had a boat with only a lightweight in it followed by one with a bunch of heavies and a slower lightweight. The new site still is not quite working like the old … I was thinking “that’s the downside of moving off the 20 year old code that had all the bugs worked out” Sent from...

Re: Injuries.....:(
My low grade injuries from season to season are interesting -- and I think demonstrate form challenges more than anything. Last year was crazy blisters and callouses on the fingers and palm. I suspect from the unnecessary DEATH GRIP on the handle. This year, I've developed a bit of a twinge across o...

It's getting there, now we have the non floating boats listed, just no boat numbers or average time/distance yet.

Nice job, Mat! That beyond 3900m effort is stellar. Great efforts by everyone else early on -- bunch of folks already submitted by April 2! Go FS!

Re: New ctc site
Thanks for the time and effort to keep our statistics “boat” afloat! I do enjoy these many fun little competitions we have - and they tend to encourage me on the many lazy couch days of this season of my life… [emoji3]

Re: The shorter compromised stroke
Trying to use this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCyh1yj8ecE as some inspiration. Thanks to Iain for also suggesting the name here. Pulling 1:05 pace is a little crazy. I haven't seen anything under 1:25 in my attempts so far - but I usually end the 100m not particularly in pain, so I'm prob...

Re: April CTC - The Baker's Dozen
No idea how I would pace that compared to 2k. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sounds hard - my one minute best is 345m so I’m thinking maybe try for 300s, that might be slow enough to get enough recovery to make through all the reps, probably going to end up like 250 though - ha. Edit: Looked at...

Try #2 - max df and a bit slower - about 1/2 a second off PB. Thought I crossed the line and eased off one stroke short ugh

Re: The shorter compromised stroke
Yeah I think the sweet spot there might be in the 50-70 SPM range - so sacrifice a bit of rate for slightly longer pulls might pull the numbers down a bit. I also used a middling 150ish DF - probably need this maxed for the short 100 distance.

The shorter compromised stroke
Trying to figure this out after reading Iain’s advice. Got a faster stroke - so fast the PM5 crashed trying to save it… 3 secs short of my best

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Tried to update my 100m - goal was 1:25 pace, came in at 1:28 - 0.4 seconds off the PB. Took a 1000m cool down and then tried the 500. Goal was 1:30 - fell short at 1:32.6 but still beat previous best by 4.3 seconds. Ranked 89% by age/sex/weight - so close to my self proclaimed “elite” bar at top 10...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
No real time this morning - long commute ate up my gym slot, so just pushed out a brief warmup and a successful 1 minute PB challenge. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240318/4c12911bf11bc4bb8e4028afba9992c0.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240318/17b09b304b189bc894376b0d3a51bddf.jpg Sent fr...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?
Went for the 30m today - all in one row (warmup as part of the row). It wasn't bad, scrummed by my previous SB by about 45 meters (7215 to 7261). 1st 6m: 1363 @ 2:12.0 (25 SPM) 2nd 6m: 1450 @ 2:04.1 (26 SPM) 3rd 6m: 1465 @ 2:02.8 (27 SPM) 4th 6m: 1471 @ 2:02.3 (27 SPM) 5th 6m: 1512 @ 1:59.0 (28 SPM)...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
I only have a PM3, but more stats than I can use are generated by the spreadsheet I keep the data in! Well done on the massive SB, should give you a better idea at how to pace it next time as headng off substantially below target didn't end well! Amazed at how low your HR stayed for that first 1k, ...

Which app do you use for those colored heart bands, Ian? That's pretty spiffy. Edit: I guess the "Ergzone" little icon probably is a hint. I'll have to check that out. I just use Ergdata because I'm part of the Concept2 borg collective. Edit2: I already even have that app. I never got it t...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?
Took a stab at trying to beat my 5k PB - goal was 19:22. Struggled in the middle and fell about 10 seconds short of the PB line - but did beat my previous SB by almost a minute. I’ll try this one again in April and see if I can grab those elusive 10 seconds. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20240314...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Yeah, I was watching some of the WRICH 2Ks as inspiration, and I noticed most of the contenders seemed to be around 32 SPM, so my 27/28 is actually a little slow. Haha. I might try fiddling down the DF a bit to see if it helps the survivability. I tried a much higher DF (about 175) this morning on a...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?
Well done Rob. 2k PB is always a special one. Now you have a target pace (new PB) I reckon you could improve the time again with a classic 2k pacing approach. For info. my pacing approach was always: fast 100m to start, taper down to target pace so I am there by 250m. Hold until 400-500m to go. Gra...
