Re: Name that tune

Assuming I am correct I've taken the liberty of chucking a new one up:

Just a smile, just a smile
Hold me captive just a while
I can't explain why I've become

(the next 2 words are the title). Someone else will have to attest to a correct answer unless it arrives before late evening today.

Re: September ctc - 12 min., free stoke rate

A very rare second go at a CTC for me as I felt it massively disappointing that I couldn't even get to 2:00 pace for 12 mins on my last attempt (given I once did a HM at that pace). Anyhoo - managed to just squeeze over 3000m to 3004 which was 1:59.8 pace. Wasn't a nice experience at all.

Re: New rower with high hopes and room for growth

Hi Charon. As Jon says, welcome to the group and apologies for the lack of response to your enthusiastic first post. At 232lbs and 6 ft 3 - you've got huge levers and the chance with training and technique to be VERY quick. A lot of the sharp end of rowing is how much pain you're happy to endure as ...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22

As I'm doing a little less rowing I'd like to think I'd be a bit fresher per session and by default maybe a tad quicker (?!). I've no recurring injuries that might put me out of action so if the other gents are happy to step back, I'll step forward.

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2021-22

I was thinking about this last night that we are a bit "last minute" again and don't appear to have made a decision as to if we are in and if so who is in. If we need another, I'll throw my hat in the ring. So we have: Philip Price Peter Weiss Kevin Horner Roger Burrell (offer if stuck for...

As it's on the radio I'm listening to right now, let's try this one:

You thought you had me covered, now boy
I've got your bait
But you're bound to be my lover... ohhh

Re: Lifetime Millionaires Club

Today notched up a significant milestone for me. I thought it was going to happen at 33 million (for some reason) and every million since and especially the big 4-0 but I've decided that from the latest landmark of 41 million (hit about 30 minutes ago) I'm tired of being tired all the time so I'm dr...

Re: Dog Days of Summer

Dog Days indeed! My rowing has been erratic to say the least but I decided to take on this challenge. It has been extremely hot and humid here in upstate New York and it feels even hotter after my row. I almost gave up this week but I don't think I ever gave up a rowing challenge. Either I am feeli...

Re: Rowlympic Challenge

Finally managed to get through a 10k last night to complete the set for this. Generally, I'm done in at 20~25 mins and lose the will to continue after that but having done 7 of the 8 events I didn't want to bail on the last 5k or so (knowing I can get to 5k - ish reasonably ok). It took me 43 minute...
