Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

You're on a roll Ron. Enjoy them whilst you are in such a rich vein of form. Great to see.

Re: Name that tune

Here's the whole first verse:

Standing in line, marking time
Waiting for the welfare dime
'Cause they can't buy a job
The man in the silk suit hurries by
As he catches the poor old ladies' eyes
Just for fun he says, "get a job"

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Awesome - but no reason you couldn't have changed the damper as you weren't in a race or at a race meet. The loss of time is barely 5 s as remember the flywheel carries on a-spinning anyway. The back-end of that row reminds me of a few dark places I've visited in some of my ultras back in the day. K...

Good-o Wolfie :-). The guitar instrumental seemed to go on for about three weeks whilst the lead singer probably went off for a pint somewhere!

Re: Name that tune

I did see it but have had a couple of full-on days so it drifted off my radar, sorry.

Watched the video to this on The Old Grey Whistle Test (there's a clue to its age already) at my mates house on Friday...

Re: Anyone had any SEASON's bests recently?

I attempted on Thursday to row an hour - and got absolutely nowhere near completing it. After a visit to the dentist this morning (to have a crown fitted) took less time than I imagined I had a bit more "rowing" time left to set off again absolutely determined to sit on the thing for an ho...

Re: Injuries.....:(

That's a tough read Tako. At the moment there's a few of us "going through the mill" as we say. I suppose there's two approaches: curl up into a ball and hope it sorts itself out - or face up to it and do the best you can to push through and come out of the other side. I know what camp you...

Re: Injuries.....:(

That's a weird injury to be on the receiving end of. For such a competitive soul, it must be massively frustrating. As Mat says, maybe you can keep a level of fitness by running (or using a bike erg?).

Darn - just got it as I re-read the clue. Jill has it right - C W McCall - Convoy (I hate to admit but I own a copy of that - inherited from my dad as he was a trucker!)

Re: September ctc - 8 x 2‘ / 2‘r

Struggling for motivation at the moment (yes, even more than usual). My father passed away last Sunday after moving in with us at the end of May. So, my brother left us 4 years ago, my mum last November and now my dad so there's only me left and it's left me feeling a tad mortal and evaluating life ...

Nice 50k Ian. I think I've only done that once as a standalone - back when I was a puppy. It wasn't as bad as I feared and I think I did it at 2:12 pace, 22spm. Never again though...

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2022-23

Put my first score in - 1048m (last year was 1067m). I never felt that I had any power and had a mini-wobble at half way but knew (as we have advised others often), that getting a score recorded is most important so I fuddled my way through to the end.

It's good to see some of the names above appearing again (of course it's good to see ALL the names!). Welcome back Marta, Gaby and Sarah Crosbie (didn't you occasionally frequent the forum under the name "Croz" or similar. Lee Cantey has been around a while to if I recall correctly.
