Re: Injuries.....:(

That's a scary report Zoot - but glad to hear it wasn't as serious as it could have been and that you have been diagnosed. You seem to suffer far too many knock-backs for one person :-( Re the cost - that's where our NHS and single payer systems work around the world. Total cost for all your tests a...

Re: Name that tune

It is Africa. I was beginning to doubt the lyrics myself with no one getting it: First 4 lines are: I hear the drums echoing tonight (this would have been too much of a giveaway) But she hears only whispers of some quiet conversation She's coming in, 12:30 flight The moonlit wings reflect the stars ...

Re: Devon Indoor Rowing Championships 2019

I was about to post a link to the results...aaah - in fact, here it is anyway: https://fmrowing.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/Results-2019-Sheet1.pdf It's a good little event this and needs a bit more support or it will die like so many others have. It's only real downfall is is changing after as t...

Re: Injuries.....:(

Did that - they said it was tendinopathy but I think there was some muscle damage as well. After about 6 days of it being very painful it eased enough on Thursday to allow me a 5k trial and it didn't react so I went ahead and raced anyway. It wasn't my armed that slowed me down but my wonky techniqu...

Agreed - everyone MUST know this song. In fact as alluded to, it was played on the radio I was listening to this afternoon.

Re: Devon Indoor Rowing Championships 2019

Not sure my effort is deserving of a thread of its own - but thank you Max (now I'll HAVE to row - grrrr ;-) ) I've also just learned that they are being live streamed on Youtube after 9:45am UK time! This might be the link... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgHaG87Pdbw&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR0...

Re: what training have free spirits been doing today?

After a week pretty much crocked with bicep tendon strain I've had a couple of goes at 5k's in the last 2 days as I've decided to attend the Devon Indoor Rowing Champs on Saturday (mainly to tie in with a visit to my ex-neighbours). Wednesday, still not using my arms I managed an uncomfortable 21:08...

Rocket Man - Reginald Dwight?
Paul G
I see what your thinking is - but Rocket Man's lyrics are:
She packed my bags last night pre-flight
Zero hour nine AM

So, not correct this time Paul
First clues - early 80's- HUGE hit, still being played all the time on the radio

Searched for this song on this thread and was surprised it hadn't been used (unless I missed it)

Jive Talkin' - The Bee Gees (good clue Wolfie - when you say it in a falsetto tone in your head it becomes obvious!)

Re: Name that tune

Well, I have to give the plaudits to Wolfie as even though it wasn't a formal guess/stab in the dark, he has written the correct answer with "Oh What a Circus" -1979 according to the interweb!

Re: Name that tune

Neither are correct - sorry fellas. Next clue - the artist is British (but had early success in the USA (Grammy nominated for one song)). His (next clue) career started in the early 70's and he's still going!

Re: Injuries.....:(

I had the opportunity to coach one of my customers midweek after a business appointment (hence the oddball 2153 metres rowed). It was on a filthy Model D with PM5 (drag 139 with damper on 10) but somehow whilst showing him the correct technique, I've managed to slightly tear my left bicep (or where ...
