Re: Name that tune

The only song I can think of by Linda Ronstadt (and even here I'm not 100%) is Blue Bayou? Might as well chuck a guess out there.

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

I agree with Jon. If there was a 3 minute rest before you started it then the flywheel was stationary - so your 5k is a PB, no problem

Re: February ctc - 12 x 60‘‘/60“r

I used a 20 x 300m I did a few weeks ago as a guide when I managed 1:51.4 average, basically assuming I "ought" to be able to go a tad quicker than that. Worked out to be true. My mistake was to start with 271, 272, 273, 274 on the first 4 reps so my OCD head decided (even though I knew it was a bit...

Well done indeed Philip. Sorry for not picking up on that when you posted it. Given your sprightly young age, that is an incredible distance!

Re: January CTC - 1k 2r/520m 1r/500m

Nice row Jon....hmmm (he says somewhat through gritted teeth). As you say, you had that in the bag from the end of the first rep as the latter two are pretty short and allow for quite a fade off. Pretty darned sure I'm neither mentally or physically up to attacking that. 3~4 seconds overall, maybe -...

Re: Anyone had any PBs recently?

Very much so - tremendous improvement on that 500m - well done. I know what you mean on the 100m with trying to stay on the seat - the line between great technique and planting your delicate parts unceremoniously on the rail is a very fine one!

Re: Indoor Rowers League 2019/2020

This month's challenge almost skipped my thoughts but I see there have been a few great efforts in there so far. Steeled myself for an all out go and targeted getting close to my all time PB for 1 minute of 317m. Went off like a blur and saw the predicted finish climb to 300, then 310, then 315, 316...

Well done Fred. Looks like there might be a lot of place changes on the cards in the near future. I filled in the HM this week having finally managed to finish one so gathered 850 points or so for my missing distance (assuming the FM won't happen again this year)

Re: Gloves for rowing, or am I just a softie?

It's entirely up to you if you wear them or not. Some insist you mustn't/shouldn't whereas others would never row without them. I'm weird as I row with one glove on my left hand only (I like to be unique ;-) ). I wear some ultra-light Reebok ones - code: RAGL-11133CY (I think the "CY" means Cyan as ...

Thread resurrection. Caught a bit of this the other night. Stars more than a couple of Hollywood big hitters:

A) What the hell is happening?

B) I blew up the building.

A) Why?

B) Because you made a phone call.

Scraped to a 20:11.6 for the December 5K. Had to back off in the 4th kilometre but managed a sub 2:00 pace (just) for the last km with the sprint finish.
